what are the cavs doing?

What are the cavs doing or should i say not doing. Now so far I have not seen crap out of Chris Grant.Meanwhile, players are flying off the market left and right. Now if you are going to rebuild, then tell the fans you are going to have to take a few steps back for a couple of years which is fine. But for the owner to make an idiotic statement that we are going to win a championship before Miami and your GM has done nothing, is kinda of ignorant. Basically, quit leaving your fans in the dark Mr. Gilbert and Mr.Grant tells your plan or show us some movement.

They are playing it smart and not making a knee jerk decision. The Cavs have their trade exception until next July. In the meantime, there will be teams looking to unload talented players in order to clear cap room for the next crop of free agents. That is where the Cavs will be able to make their moves through trades. I am still hopefuly that eventually the Cavs will get something for nothing through a Shaq trade. Adding someone like Ramon Sessions or Emeka Okafor does nothing for the Cavs long-term except restrict their cap flexibility. The teams have to be willing to dangle a carrot in front of the Cavs before they will take on unmovable contracts.
In free agency, I have not seen a lot of players out there that are any better than what the Cavs already have on the roster. Instead of overpaying and adding a burdensome contract, I would rather let some of our exisiting contracts expire than to sign some these guys to these ridiculous deals. The only player remaining in free agency who I would like to see the Cavs take a chance on is Josh Howard if the price is right. Coming off of an injury, he could be a real steal for the Cavs.
In this instance, I applaud the Cavs for showing restraint and patience.

Gilbert didn't say we'd win this year. He said we'd win before the Heat. Understand that he doesn't believe the Heat expiriment will work, which means he's got some time to deliver a winner.
A lot of people read into those comments that he expected us to contend right away. I did not.
The Cavaliers are being cautious. They've seen a few players they've liked and gone after them. Unfortunately it didn't work out, but the last think I want to see out of them is despiration.
I have no problem going into this season with what we've got and filling the roster out with longshots and redemption candidates. Maybe we can strike gold with a Qyntel Woods or Gerald Green. If we don't it doesn't really matter. Its just a higher pick.

Thank the Rockets for keeping Lowry that would of been a horrible contract added to the Cavs future. How about Jaminson for keynon Martin to help the Nuggets front line and get rid of jamisons contract. My other i tried out was Mo williams for jamal crawford's expiring but idk if the hawks want to do that

Lowry would have been a good deal if the Cavs shipped off Mo.
His contract would essentially have replaced Mo's, at a cheaper price.

I think we would not hesitate to take Okafor if it meant we were getting Collison in the deal.

What is the Okafor fixation that some people seem to have?

There is no rush. This is going to be a long and painful rebuilding process. Players like Matt Barnes, Ronnie Brewer, etc... are pretty much meaningless considering where this team is right now without a superstar.

Its more of a Collison fixation if you ask me. And Okafor fills a need for this team. I would be fine with a package of both, and I wouldnt mind Thornton either. But with our inability to draw even marginal starters like Brewer the best bet is to blow it up and get the best picks we can.

I agree. I'm in the blow it up camp though. Blow it up and stock pile picks, build through the draft and trades. No overpaying FA's to come here, no lateral moves.

I do like Collison alot. He is the type of PG we need, however, i think he is insurance for NO.I do not think Paul will stay in NO if they do not make a huge splash. Maybe he can go to the heat and take the veteran minniumum to fit under their cap.LOL!!! I love it how all these players sell out for some teams and for others not so much. As for my inital post, i agree with you guys about the marginal players and you definately do not want to screw up your future cap with bad contracts for medoicre players, but lets see some creatvity then, go out out a grab a young player who has more potential upside and will not cost you alot. and Im sorry but right now matt barnes and brad miller who are now being rumored do not fit that bill.

The Wizards had a young jamison, a healthy gilbert, and caron butler that trio beats the one just named and I dont think they made it past the first round. Time to forget about deep playoff runs for a few years. Lets keep young pieces like Gibson, JJ, Andy and maybe Mo.
