Over/Under,25 W's??????

Post#1 » by boneys2010 » Thu Aug 5, 2010 3:03 pm

Ok everyone the season is amazingly getting closer.Such as it is the Cav's roster is starting to take shape. The post Era is about to begin. With the plaers currently in fold, what do YOU expect for the upcoming season?I certainly have NO real expectations, but I agree with an earlier thread that maybe they won't be quite as bad as folks expect. My guess is maybe around twenty-five to thirty W's.I don't think they will be record-setting awful, but I sure don't see us making the playoffs anytime real soon.I'm actually hoping for as bad as possable. That would be the absolute best case scenerio for the long term.
So I'm gonna go with twenty five W's for the next year.I'm not sure what place that would put us as far as the standings at the end.
So what do YOU say?Over or under 25????

I'd say more than 25 assuming they don't deal anyone else and remain healthy.

I think people make the mistake of assuming that what guys are when playing with LeBron is the same thing that they'll be without him. LeBron certianly created perimiter jump shot opportunities, but so will dribble penetrations from Sessions and overall I'd expect the ball movement to improve. Add in what I consider to be a coaching upgrade and I can't see less than 25.

when you think about it, you have to be pretty bad not to win 25 games. last year only the nets and timberwolves pulled off the feat. the team as it stands right now is probably good for at least 35 wins but that could change if mo, jamison and av are dealt by the deadline

right now, i'm going over

More than 25 unless we are starting a whole d league team, due to trades or injuries.

Over 25 but not by much, of course injuries and possible trades would affect that. I would hope to be picking in the top three, so under wouldnt bother me much at this point anyway. However, I would hope not to challenge the all-time worst win total.

Under. I think we trade guys like Mo and Jamison towards the deadline when we are out of the playoff race and struggle to score after that.

I really don't see any benefit to trading Mo or Jamison unless we get something worthwhile for them. So I really don't see Jamison going anywhere until next off season and Mo not for as long as 2 yrs

Deadline deals will get the CAvs max value which I am sure that you and the other know that. Trading them to a contender would net the Cavs a couple of first rounders. Okay now I think they will win more the 25. Somewhere between 29-40 games

Any way we can trade some of our past 2 years' wins for wins in next season?

Boy, you set the number perfectly. I've been saying for the past month that we'd win 25 games. I think our range is like 22-28 wins. For the sake of not coping out on your poll however, I'll go with under.

Thanks, personally I'm rooting for under myself.I'm pushing for around 15.Than we would be assurred a pretty darn solid guy in the draft. It will be a very interesting year.

15? wow. are you stupid? I mean LeBron is good, but he isn't THAT good.

God help us if we only win 15 games, nobody in the draft is going to help us, it would just mean that we're THAT bad + high lottery pick.

Lebron didn't win 60+ games a season by himself which leads itself to question an almost trolling statement of the CAVs only winning 15 games this coming season. IMO, the CAVs are about a 40 win team during the regular season. CAVs owner, Gilbert, isn't going to completely gut the team and be non-competitive with his interest in the new Casino that is to be built near the basketball arena in Cleveland.

Giving away Jamison, Williams or Varejao would be the recipe for the CAVs becoming the Clippers of the East were you have lottery picks and are continually rebuilding. There is NO Tim Duncan like player in the next draft class. Without a significant return... I would just prefer to let Jamison and Williams expire or wait until the final year of their contract and trade them to a contender at the trade deadline.

That's not really true. The Clippers are the Clippers because they draft poorly, have extraordinary bad luck, and are too cheap to pay their players market value.

Trading those players would also put us on the same path as Oklahoma City, Orlando, Milwaukee, and other rising teams.

^ That's not really true either. There is no player in the up coming draft at the level of Tim Duncan or a Kevin Durant. While CAVs GM, Chris Grant, has a clean slate--- his new team has no track record yet in drafting. Ok. Would you prefer the Atlanta Hawks before they signed Johnson the fist time... same lack of success model. Where the Bucks came in your reasoning isn't that clear to me either. Without the Bucks Free agent signings in the offseason--- they would not be a difference in betting odds over the CAVs.

The Circumstances are different in that the CAVs have lost one of the top players in the game and simply can't start at ground zero--- there is NO Lebron type player in this coming draft. Orlando got Howard about the same time as the CAVs got Lecon and he has shown more loyalty than the CAVs previous franchise player which makes it a poor comparison in my mind to prove your point.

OKC model only works because of Durant and there is no Durant in the next draft. The CAVs don't have the free pass that OKC had in being the only attraction in a new city.

Chicago and Toronto won 40 or more games last year in the east, with Rose for Chi-town and Bosh for Toronto being there go to guys. How do you justify the cavs winning 40 or more with Mo williams or Jamison as your go to guy? How many wins did the warriors get with Jamison as their star? It's not rolling at all, Cav fans are overrating this roster. I mean when the signing of Graham who didn't even get an offer from the raptors makes news, your roster is hurting.

30 win max is realistic. This is without any significant injuries.

See what's dumb about the comment is that all signings make news. Every single one. Heck, even the announcement that I saw regarding him being signed called him depth.
