Lebron James States a Possible Return To Cleveland in GQ

Post#1 » by WadeisLikeMike » Tue Aug 17, 2010 4:35 pm

http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/miam ... 3477.story

When Lebron was asked whether he would return to Cleveland this is what he said.

"If there was an opportunity for me to return," he told the magazine, "and those fans welcome me back, that'd be a great story."

In the piece, James said he could even fathom a return one day to Cleveland. While he signed a seven-year deal with the Heat, he can escape the contract after four seasons.

What does the fan-base of Cleveland think about this? Would you guys welcome him back or completely shut him down.

I do not see it ever happening. Is Dan Gilbert going to sell the team? Doubt it.

He's just sayin this cuz he knows he effed up and doesn't wanna get shot/booed when he returns to Cleveland. If you guys are fooled again I'm gonna have to believe Cleveland deserved what they got for being stupid. That's like the gf who gets beaten and then takes her bf back and gets beaten again. I felt bad for you the first time but you got what you deserved the second time. I wouldn't even welcome Wade to Chicago even if he really wanted to play here and he's not nearly as big of a douche as Lebron..well he is but he's not as dumb. When will you guys realize Lebron is at best a Dominique Wilkins and is destined to be a loser. He didn't believe in himself to win so he ran to Wade. Lebron wants to have the money, the glory, the fame, but he wants it easy for him..glory and easy do not go together for anyone. Queen James sucks.

apparently, he is trying to emphasis the difference between living at Akron and Cleveland, since they are 30 mins apart, and basically people at Cleveland looked down on people from Akron...

Personally, I am not from the states, so is this true? Or just him trying to smooth it out?

Lebron is just trying to save his legacy in CLE. He doesn't want to go down in the books as the sell-out, quitter, traitor, etc. etc. in his own home state. I'm not surprised to hear he has in his mind that he would try to come back after his stint in MIA.

Personally I would have a hard time cheering for the dude again but if he made it clear he wanted back home at 30/31, acknowledged his mistakes in how he handled it, etc. I would consider it just based on his basketball ability alone.

But honestly, my initial reaction would be to tell him to F off on general principle.

Because I'm a basketball fan and Wade and Lebron are an embarassment to the human race. Money is evil in the wrong hands and they are the perfect example to show for that. How Wade skull effed us and how Lebron played Cleveland ain't right. This whole thing has been planned for years now ever since the 08 olympics and I think it's pathetic how they got caught trying to play it off and basically got exposed by the whole world for being 2 flakes. Wade is just egotistical yet he's brilliant how he got James and Bosh to jump on his nuts while Lebron is egotistical yet the definition of a (Please Use More Appropriate Word). And Bosh is the most overrated player in the league and is no better than Boozer or even Amare. The only way the Heat will win is with Wade's clutchness as Lebron has absolutely zero of that which is why I'm ecstatic he didn't come to the Bulls and Cavs fans should be happy as well. Sure he's a highlight machine but his basketball talent is EXTREMELY overrated and he's pathetic defensively. The Cavs can do better than Queen James.

Another attempt by Lebron James' crack marketing team to do damage control, in that GQ interview, in which he still refers to himself in third person  when talking about CAVs owner Dan Gilbert. The comments that L. James is quoted to have said about the CAVs owner applies to him too and his classless behavior where he believes he can do no wrong. Another highly scripted interview failure to do damage control. Prince James needs a more experienced and professional marketing team.

Lebron James next stop will be New Jersey with his friend Jay-z after he wears out his welcome in Miami. Yes, I know about the charade story about Jay-z being mad at Lebron--- just like William the leach Wesley being out of Lebron's inner circle and then being on the private jet with Lebron when he arrived in Miami.

I am sure that the next CBA between the NBA and it's player's will deal with player collusion and the teams that know about it. After every player excess like Keven Garnett's Wolves 28 million per year contract and loop holing the MLE rules (Boo$er and Arenas) --- the CBA has been changed to deal with it.

LeBron's mention of people in Akron hating Cleveland sounds like a high school mentality.

As I understand it, northeastern Ohio (like other regions) is united through economics and sports.

At this point I really cant say if I would want him back. But, I wonder if he means he would come back if it meant he could win a ring here, we certainly know he is a ring chasing whore.
Wouldnt it be ironic (and enjoyable) if they dont win any rings in Miami while he is there and our team becomes a contender resulting in him wanting to come back to try to win his first ring?

I wonder if Gilbert would ever tolerate LeBron and his entourage again?

Miami is extremely suspect in its center position and lacks depth to grind it out in the playoffs. That won't change any time soon.

The Heat will win a lot of regular season games on the talent of their Big 3 alone, but don't have the components for a contender.

And when they start falling short, I can see Wade and LeBron sniping at each other like Kobe-Shaq and Wade-Shaq did.

It is amazing how poorly Lebron's pr people are handling this situation.

They have to realize that GQ would ask some probing questions about his move. Lebron gains nothing by talking about his dislike for Cleveland or some people from Cleveland. It seems that Lebron does not understand how poorly he has been perceived by so many people. You would think that Nike would want to put an end to the PR gaffes.

He broke Cleveland's basketball heart. He held a franchise hostage to his whims. He conned a franchise into doing everything that the wanted - and none of it was enough. Cleveland paid Lebron well. Cleveland adored Lebron. Cleveland gave Lebron whatever he wanted that was within their grasp. He could respond to a question about playing in Cleveland any number of ways. He didn't have to say "So we didn't actually like Cleveland. We hated Cleveland growing up". That comment was thoughtless and tactless.

Young Ohio and other basketball players who're savvy should be looking at this as a lesson to not hire LeBron's agency for themselves.
