I remember alot of you guys said, you hope the last place he chose was NY. We all know he chose Miami, my question to you is, which would sting the most, If he chose NY, CHI, L.A. NJ, or would the anger be the same or you could understand him choosing a certain city over the next?
I know this is an old threat now, but I wanted to try to answer the question, at least from my perspective.
I knew deep down that LeBron was going to leave, as the hopeless Cleveland sports fan that I am I refused to admit that to myself and let myself believe that he was staying. Then when the announcement came that “The Decision” was going to be an hour long special on ESPN, I knew --- not thought --- I deep down in my gut knew he was staying. I mean seriously how could anyone be so callous and egotistical to have a one-hour sit show on National TV just to give a big FU to their home town… It turned out there was someone who was a big enough scum bag to do that, and he did it.
So to me it would sting the most because of the WAY HE LEFT, not because of the fact that he left. I mean lets face it, he was a free agent and he had the right to go wherever he wanted. Had his free agency period not been filled with the kind of hype and fan-fare around it that it was, and had “The Decision” not been broadcast like it was --- yeah I’d still be pissed that he left of course, but at least he wouldn’t have rubbed it in our faces the way he did.
No offense to Knicks fans, but there was never any chance of him going there. That organization is a joke and as long as the Dolan family runs it (trust us we know about the Dolans) it will remain a joke. I actually feel bad for Knicks fans because of the piss-poor ownership/management the Knicks have had for years now.
Anyone who seriously thought he was going to the Clippers, has no business ever opening their pie holes about sports.
NJ, I think was possible and had he gone there I would have been shocked, because it would have taken a while to build a team around him, So I would have been a little more upset about that one.
Chicago, I wouldn’t have liked it, and I couldn’t imagine him going there to play in Jordan’s shadow --- but him joining that team with the lineup already in place, would have been a phenomenal team, I really wouldn’t be able to blame him for going.
Miami, even if he had not left THE WAY HE DID, and signed more like the way Bosh, and Amare, etc.. signed would have still stung the most, because Wade has a ring already there that’s HIS team.
In the end though the sting is more about the way he screwed us over, we’ve had great athletes leave our sports teams in free agency before (Belle, Manny, Thome, etc.) but never by going on national TV to slap us in the face while doing it.
