Let's Go For Greg Oden (FA)

Post#1 » by RRT » Wed Oct 27, 2010 5:51 pm

Well, probably too early to speak on it, cause of the upcoming season we should truly know if this is gon be end of the injuries, or if it's going to continue, but, say he doesn't get injured this year, I think this is FA we should target, I mean you don't get many true centers in the league period, his stock is very low now obviously, he's not a superstar so it shouldn't be hard to sign him to Cleveland, and he could possibly work out in same fashion Z did for us.

Just a thought.

I think the wait and see attitude is the way to go with Oden. He hasnt been healthy since high school. IF he can get and stay healthy he would be worth a 2 or 3 year deal at around mid level at most. Maybe the market would be higher, but he is injury prone so far and risking a long term deal even at mid level would be too much imo.

Well he would certainly fill a need.

Z was injured through most of his young career as well so at least the track record is there.

Who knows it could pay off.

No way, not unless it's at a bargain price. He's too injury prone.
much respect to the 2011-2012 champions, Miami Heat, well deserved

If we go for Oden it has to be at a reasonable price. We can't take a risk and throw 60million for 6 years at a guy like him because if he stays injured we will be screwed for the better half of a decade.

Mo for Oden. We need young size, Portland could use a knock down shooter to take advantage of Roy's passing abilities at the two. Neithr team is killing themselves since the contracts are short.

Wouldn't go for Mo for Oden, cmon, lol.

Oden + Aldridge + Andre Miller for Mo + Jamison.

^ wouldn't go for that either.

If oden finally get's through a whole season ( i really hope he does) portland aren't going to give him up for little. I don't see him leaving via free agencey either given their loyalty. He'd be great to have, huge upside if he can stay healthy, but i don't see this ever happening. I hope thing's work out for him in portland. On the flip side if he only play's 40 games or something it's probably not worth it.

Oden is a walking medical risk. it is a miracle that can even walk. Wouldn't even give a bag of basketballs for him.

The next big thing: seven-footer Greg Oden isn't just bigger, he's better—, his game and developing skills could place him among the all-time great centers

"He's one of those people that's going to win championships."

Those people? Bill Russell. Wilt Chamberlain. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Bill Walton. O'Neal. Those people. Those are the names mentioned when Oden is evaluated as a prospect. They have won a combined seven NCAA titles and 24 NBA championships.

no way portland would do that lol.

But i agree Oden is worth the gamble if he comes at the right price.

You guys really need to hold on to Varejao

If Oden comes back and plays without any injuries the Blazers will most likely resign him. If you guys give him an offer blazers can match it if Oden will be health after he comes back from the injury. It will be blazers decision 100% on Odens future with the Blazers.

Oden still has to want to stay in Portland. I think he would benefit by getting back to the Midwest. The Blazers are not going to hold onto Oden if they feel he does not want to be there. I'm pretty sure a decent trade could be worked out. I would only be willing to part with Varejao if Batum is involved. Given the Blazers depth at the 2/3 (Wes Matthews, Roy, Babbitt, Rudy), a trade would make sense for both teams. With the injury concerns and an aging Camby, Varejao would provide assurance as he has been a durable player who would compliment LeMarcus Aldridge.

Blazers Get:
Anderson Varejao
Jamario Moon

Cavs Get:
Greg Oden
Nicolas Batum

Cavs:
PG Mo Williams/Daniel Gibson
SG Ramon Session/Manny Harris
SF Nicolas Batum/Anthony Parker
PF JJ Hickson/Leon Powe/Samardo Samules
C Greg Oden/Ryan Hollins

You guys are aware that Oden is a RFA right?

If you guys offer him the max deal possible Portland can match it if they want and Oden has to stay.

Also Portland has not given him much crap for being injured something other fan bases are a bit more vocal about.

I remember when Wade has some sizable injury problems in Miami god they just bitched him out all the time.

BTW: Asking for Batum without a huge piece of talent in the mix somewhere is the best way to get the phone hung up on ya dude :).

There is a big difference there, Wade has been leading Miami from the get go. Oden, on the other hand, is still just a prospect.
Well at least we're not Detroit!

Man, good thing he came out when he did, at least he got paid. Sucks for Blazer fans though.
