Manny Harris

Post#1 » by TheKingLivesOn » Sun Dec 26, 2010 2:44 am

Does he deserve more minutes? From what I understand/have seen in his limited action, he is an explosive scorer who could use improvement on the defensive end. That said, should we be trying to develop him into our SG of the future or a viable bench player at the very least? This was one of the things I was afraid of when we hired Byron Scott if Lebron left. Although a good coach, Scott doesnt value youth development very much (Collison/Thornton in NO, Hickson/Harris in Cle) In the post-Lebron era, we need a coach willing to/having the patience to teach the young guys on the team and develop a strong core to compete in the future.

Good to see he's finally getting some minutes.. He's not as good as I would like but can definitely become a solid bench player for us in the future

I don't mind him getting minutes but its tough to claim he's 'deserves them'. The guy is a project, and there is nothing wrong with playing him and seeing what happens, but if I had to guess his best case is a bench player in the Flip Murray mold.

I think/hope he can be a bigger contributor than Murray but thats probably what it is looking like here. He does have a very good touch from downtown though for an undrafted player. Could be a solid 20-minute guy off the bench.

Yeah he definitely is a project. He needs to get stronger, and he really needs to work on his ball handling. But he plays hard and has talent. While B Scott may not seem to have the patience to develop young talent, it may also be more that he just hates to lose and young guys are usually inconsistent and need work defensively.

I liked what I saw from Harris last night. I hope he can consistently play with the same energy level on both ends.

It is sad that it has come to this, but last night's game was my favorite loss of the season.

Thats actually what I meant. Scott is more suited as a coach for a team that is built to win now. For a rebuilding team like the cavs, he may not be the best option since he has a higher preference for veteran players who are less of a headache. But Manny Harris should definitely see more minutes. I think that Harris and Eyenga off the bench in the future could be perfect compliments to each others offensive/defensive potentials. Right now, I would love to get them more playing time and develop them into adequate players.

I noticed he has started your last two games now.... Sunday against us (the Magic) and Monday against The (Please Use More Appropriate Word) "south Beachers" Is he now going to be your starting guard? Or is it just a temporary thing due to an injury or something? Im wondering because he did Hella good against two teams near the top in the east. Scored 20 points against both teams. To be honest with you Sunday was only the third game I have seen him play so far, but he looked impressive in his Florida back to back games. (He May be a good Fantasy player pick up on the cheap for those playing fantasy ball as well)

But anyways I just wanted to check. He looked impressive. Hopefully he stays consistent at that level and even improves now that hes getting those minutes (and if he is actually your starter now)

Best of luck to you Cav Fans!!!
There will be life after Dwight.

He originally filled in when Parker went down, but now Parker is back and Manny is still starting. I think he has earned the role through the rest of the season. He is honestly one of the only things to be happy about with this team so far.

To think he barely beat out Danny Green for the last roster spot too.

I get a little angry everytime I hear Green's name mentioned now. I really thought he had the tools to be a solid role player. I like what I have seen from Harris. He is able to handle the ball, he is pretty aggresive, I just hope he works on his defense and shooting. Though not world beaters, Gibson/Sessions/Harris/Eyenga is a decent backcourt core to develop.

unfortunately all of them have a role player-esque ceiling

eyenga and hickson are the guys who should be focused on for the future, gibson is what he is so is sessions, harris' ceiling is a garbage minutes guy on a good team.

I tend to agree, but my ceiling on Harris is starting to rise a little bit. Earlier in the thread I pegged him as a Flip Murray (at his best) type but he's showing the potential to put up Jamal Crawford type numbers off the bench. Of course like JC those are wildly inefficient points and unless he turns that around in a big way I can't see him starting once we're on the rise again.

Manny Harris, Eyenga, and Sessions are the only players worth watching on this team. I would add Varejao and Gibson to the list if they were healthy.

It will be interesting to watch the development Manny Harris and Evan Turner to see who eventually becomes the better pro.

Great scouting report coach.

you are delusional if you think harris ends up being anything more than a 10th man on a good team

Michigan fan here, hope Manny does well, he had a monster game today and has shown more already than most would have expected of him.

Sincerly hope he doesnt end up being the next Bernard Robinson Jr, putting up numbers on a bad team. I'll be hoping the Cavs do well while he is in the lineup.

Return to Cleveland Cavaliers
