Cavaliers vs. Buckeyes....

...somebody has to ask.

Cavalier's wouldn't be able to stop Sullinger inside, and haven't shown they can stop perimeter shooting teams. Sullinger and Bufford (at least) would easily start on this team.

What's your vote?

Christ, I would take Lighty over Gee for that matter. I would say the Cavs win, but it wouldnt be a blowout.

Really sad, that a topic like this has any legitimacy to it at all, isn't it?

Cavs would win comfortably. It would be like Ohio State facing a 16 seed later in the year. Still sad though. This is the worst NBA team I have ever seen.

As a Buckeye fan I sure would'nt say the Cavs would win easily. I actually thought of this regarding the Browns and the Bucks this season. I get that these guys are pro athletes, but there IS a team concept involved in this scenereo. I steadfastly say that a really good or great college team just might be able to defeat a crappy pro team. It would be cool to see that happen. I'd take Sullinger,Lighty,Buford over some of the slugs the Cavs are playing with. I say a pretty tight contest either way.JMO

I think there is a 0.5% chance of a college team ever beating pro team... especially in the NFL.

The NFL is completely different. OSU isn't even close to beating the Browns...or any NFL team.

Basketball is a different story though and if the two teams played there is no doubt Sullinger would be the best player on the court.

I have to disagree with this too. There is still a big difference between college basketball and the NBA. You are saying that if Sullinger were added to the Cavs right now, he would be the best player on the team? Put Hickson back in college right now, and he will be the top pick in the draft.

No he wouldn't, because Hickson has shown almost no development and still gets completly lost on the defensive end. Sullinger is considered NBA ready and will likely be a top 4 pick, that generally means immediate NBA starter, Yes he'd be the best player on the Cavaliers right now (with Andy out). Do you think Hickson could stop him in the post? Hollins?, lol.

Basketball is a game of matchups. Sullinger would own the paint offensively, and the Buckeyes can hit the 3, while the Cavaliers can't defend it. Who do the Cavaliers have that the Buckeye's can't defend?

The areas where an NBA team would normally distance themselves from an NCAA powerhouse - consistent size and athletisism advantages - don't really apply to the Cavaliers. The Buckeyes are as big as the Cavaliers, and the Cavs don't have the athletisim on the wings to abuse the guys that don't have NBA careers ahead of them.

I do not agree with any of the so-called points that you made. Players like Gibson, and even Manny Harris with his much improved jumper, would abuse the Buckeyes. Who is stopping Jamison on Ohio State's roster? If Jamison can still put up 30 against an NBA team, what do you think he'll do against a college team? Are they playing with the college three point line? I realize there are some D Leaguers on our team, but come on.

Jamison is the answer.
I asked who the Cavaliers had that the Buckeyes can't stop, and you're right its Jamison. They couldn't defend him inside and out. I still believe they could defend anyone else on the Cavaliers' roster though, which is why I believe its close.

Lighty and Bufford against Gibson and Harris?...That isn't that big an advantage Cleveland.

OT but what do you guys think about Sullinger? I am truly not a huge fan. I like the kid and think hes a great player. But I compare him most with Kevin Love, Elton Brand, Zach Randolph, etc. I think he can probably put up 15 and 10 on any given night - but i do not think he is payer you build your franchise around. Just my take

I would not be disappointed if theCavs drafted Sullinger, he has a better understanding of how to play right now than JJ has after being in the NBA for three years. Imo he would start at the PF from day one if we drafted him. I watched his first game and he didnt rebound that well, but Matta must be on him because he is a much improved (maybe first game was nerves or something) rebounder.
In fact just about anybody we draft (Irving, Jones, Jones, Walker, Kanter, or Sullinger) will start.

I thought those where good players to have? lol. All of the above are/where better that Hickson

The point I think is that Hickson was not a top 4 pick while Sullinger would be if we took him. I'm not a fan of undersized PF's but if he's the best that's out there maybe. I wouldn't want to build around any of the players that are being mentioned.

I would have built around Brand, how many legit 20/10 rookies are out there?

Our franchise is looking for a Rose, Durant, Paul, Wade type. Not the guys I listed. Our draft will also not be a success if we get someone "better than JJ Hickson"
