Would you take Andris Biedrins and it looks to be about the 11th pick if the lottery balls stay true for Anderson Varejao?

Has any team ever had 3 lotto picks in the same year?
Not to mention the first pick in the 2nd round which would amount to 4 of the top 31 picks. Oh and another late 2nd rounder. All of that youth would definitely kick start our youth movement.
Looking at nbadraft.net's most recent update, that would give us the opporunity to do something like this:
1) Derrick Williams
8) Perry Jones
11) Brandon Knight
31) Nikola Mirotic
54) Jon Diebler (Homer Pick)

More likely would be a foreigner to stash overseas.
Davis/Sessions/Knight
Harris/Gibson
Williams/Eyenga/Harengody/Mirotic
Hickson/Jones/Jamison
Biedrins/Erden/Samuels
Or you could switch it up and go:
1) Kyrie Irving
8) Perry Jones
11) Terrence Jones
31) LaceDarius Dunn (Who's stock is going to rise rapidly)
Davis/Irving/Sessions
Harris/Gibson/Dunn
P. Jones/T. Jones/Eyenga
Hickson/Jamison/Harangody
Biedrins/Erden/Samuels
This would also allow you even more flexibility to take a chance on one of the Euro bigs if you wanted to go that route. It could be interesting but I dont want to understate how rotten Biedrin's contract is. 3 more years at 9 a piece would be a tough pill to swallow and would probably lead to something else coming back Cleveland's way.

If Biedrins was even a decent free throw shooter I wouldn't mind having him. But jeez, he has no offensive talent whatsoever. As much as people talk about Varejao as not being an offensive threat, he moves without the ball, makes himself available for easy baskets, makes some nice shots and have a better outside shot as well as free throw shot than Biedrins and it's not even close.

I don't do it.
Biedrins may be younger but he isn't near the player Andy is. This is a below average draft too.
Not to mention you're already likely going to be starting teo rookies next season potentially without the benefit of offseason workouts do to the lock out.
I'd have to think about a deal if it were a 2012 pick, but then you risk the Warriors making a playoff jump in the star depleted West.

While having an extra lottery pick seems appealing--- Biedrins toxic contract is not appealing when you factor in throwing in Varejao as a bonus to them. As stated earlier, more significant compensation would have to be going the CAVs way to move Varejao when GSW are trying to dump Biedrins. I believe GSW traded their 2012 first round pick (top 7 protected) to the Nets who in turn traded it to Utah in the Darren Williams deal. Unless GSW have another 1st round pick... I don't think they can trade their 2011 1st pick until after the draft which with the new CBA could take awhile.

Hawks fan here...
How would Cleveland fans feel about a trade of Joe Johnson for Antawn Jameson and the #1 pick if you guys land it?

We would politely say no way in hell.

Why in gods name would we want an vastly overpaid Johnson while giving up a player that is as productive as him and having to toss in our first. Heck, Atlanta would have to toss in two first and we keep our own in order for that to make any sense and even then it only makes sense if Atlanta's picks were high lottery. That is so awful it unbelievable.

I think Sessions is going to be gone next year probably in a trade whether draft day or after. I really feel the cavs will grab a PG with one of their 2 picks in 1st round and since they got Barron for 2 more years that leaves 3 PG's with Sessions the odd man out. Rumor has he's been griping about losing minutes to Baron anyways, so with your future PG here after the draft you do not need that crap or a young PG since you have one and you a Vet in davis to work with him Plus I feel Sessions may bring you a little bit back in return.

Baron has barely played (same with Mo before him). I just don't know where these rumors come from.

I'll agree with you that he's grossly overpaid for his production this year... but he does command double teams every night to get others involved. Plus he's got size and is a great defender at both the 2 and 3.
Don't blame you for not liking it - I didn't know if you guys were trying to turn the ship around fast and start winning now or wait a while. Waiting is the better route I'd say myself.

I want to say the Kings did in the 90s, but i'm too lazy to look it up.
I would not make this trade though. Cavs want to add picks, buy them. Sure they will late 1sts, but it is better then being stuck with Biedrins.

Knick fan that comes in peace..I dont see how you guys wouldnt want to take on a bad contract to land another lottery pick..I mean i can see if you guys were in a great position to win alot of games but since your not why not sacrifice a couple yrs to get another young potential stud and build your young players from scratch..Think about all the options i mean i know this draft isnt as deep but from what i see theres still quite a few nice players..As for the Joe Johnson proposal i agree wit yall no way in hell should you deal for him..He seems abit selfish and your building for the future (with good drafting can be sooner then later) Anyways good luck !

Knick fan you are absolutely right. I would take a bad contract for 2 years if it got me a top 10 pick. Imean lets face it these young guys will probably not start to develop as a unti for a few years anyhow. If detroit bites and we take Rip on and get their lotto pick. i do it in a minute, and i think you may see something. Now I do not take on a bad contract for a lower pick though. According to WKNR, which i heard the other day, the cavs are trying to get a 3rd first round pick. Now I do not know where they are targeting and what they are willing to offer but they mentioned that as a possibility.

Yea this is a no brainer... By the time the Cavs are remotely respectable once again, Varejao won't even be a thought around here... Who cares about who provides better offense at this point ?? He doesn't factor into the long term plans...
In fact, the best you could hope for from him is a 1st round pick and usually the teams that are looking for a player of his services are high level teams with draft picks in the 20's to put them over the top... To turn away a lottery pick now so you could grab a pick in the 20's later on is just moronic...

ummm... you would have to PAY me to take on Joe Johnson, he is god awful IMO...most overrated overpaid player in the NBA

Honestly, we need to try harder to get another lotto pick in 2012, not 2011...make a run for Gilchrist/whoever.

And....Biedrins has in his career had seasons scoring over 10 pt....also had a career 60% FG startin g this season...tops in the NBA. AV has yet to top 10 ppg or 10 rpg. Biedrins,is also younger.
GSW probably would trade Biedrins for AV...then screw up AV and dump him a year later.
GSW would not give the pick for AV. They will just look at Dalembert,Nazr, etc as mid-$ free agents and see how that guy,Biedrins,Udoh, perform next year.

Hawks would need to include 17 1st round picks and Horford.
