I hope we dont see an avalanche of "now you Cavs fans have no reason to dislike or hate Lebron" type of posts. I am glad to see that he hs some regret for the way he handled things though.

Since everything else in the past cannot be changed, at least he did this and acknowedged that it basically could have been handled better. Cav fans have every right to hate or love him, but the main benefit is that I think Cav fans can better move on regardless.

Maybe Dan Gilbert can say a little something now.

I am not too sure how sincere Prince Lebron is... it's just seems to be a calculated PR move. He's got more than that ESPN Decision show to apologize for. The Boston team that Prince Lebron over came recently isn't as good as the one the CAVs faced the previous season's playoff were he mailed it in with a look at my stats performance.

Though many mainstream sports media outlets are touting the Heat's victory over the Celtics as monumental and a sort-of cleansing of old demons for LeBron and company, the simple fact of the matter is that LeBron James has done nothing more than affirm the idea that he is simply not a leader. Furthermore, the excessive amount of emotion -- whether genuine or, more likely, feigned -- which LeBron has shown recently does nothing more than prove that he is simply a megalomaniac needing to make his story the only story that matters.

never really cared what decision he made (just wanted it all to end as fast as possible to be honest with ya) but i'm glad he realizes how much of an ass he was last summer

i'm curious, if the Heat didn't win the series would he have still apologized??

ESPN/NBA/Stern really have alot vested in MIA. Anyone notice how every espn commentator pretty much defended Bronze this year especially a couple of nights ago. Not too mention Bronze is a huge egomaniac and the avalanche of Bronze/Wade commercials after their win were just yuck.

In any case Cavs fans, you have no choice but to move on. It just like a breakup. Of course there's some anger but you get over it and move on. Best thing about past relationships.......you notice all the stuff that didn't make any sense during the relationship

2. dishonesty
3. immaturity
4. making you decision 2 years in advance but going through the motions just so it doesn't look like tampering

Did he?

He said he was sorry for how it was handled, but didn't take ownership of it.
He made the apology with very 'I told you so' timing.
He remained critical of teammates and took another shot at the organization.
Was it an apology or a justification?

I guess its a start, but I'll hold out for an actual acknowledgment of responsibility and some recognition that he actaully knows what he's apologizing for.

i'm not a cavs fan and i still hate him, he's a punk and cry baby. he wants the league to feel bad for him and be on his side. Yet he keeps opening his mouth like he's earned it, and still hasn't proven anything except that he can win a mvp and choke in the finals. Clevland should never forgive him and neither should any bball player. its one thing to be loyal to your home, its another to tell everyone that your so loyal, and then stab them in the back on natiional TV. That apology is PR move and 1 year to late

Yeah, because for seven years you were the envy of pro sports with Lebron turning the usually looked-over
Cleveland into an NBA hub and hot spot.

I think it is good that he apologized, but think it would have meant more if it had not taken so long, the reasoning was better, or it was at a low point. Think Gilbert was to blame as well since he babied him for so long and failed to build a team around him. Was not a Lebron fan before the decision, but left the door open to being able to cheer for him if he had ended up on the Pacers or Blazers. Honestly, I am glad that he did not.

James and his marketing army are reinventing him.
There was a wiretap article a few days ago - after the "apology" - that says a LeBron title will be worth $4 billion to Nike.
After beating the Celts, LeBron and Wade see no one standing in the way of a title & are working on their images.

Gilbert definitely babied him & gave him everything he wanted including special treatment for friends. Gilbert didnt realize that someone like LeBron, who is used to getting everything he wants, just doesnt feel grateful for the benefits as someone who had struggles would.

Gilbert had the Cavs acquire almost everyone who LeBron wanted: Hughes, Jamieson, etc. Instead, he should have hired a pro who would get the players needed without LeBron controlling it all. The Bulls did not let Jordan make any personnel decisions while he was playiong on the Bulls

It' pretty sad that fans even expect a professional athlete owes them an apology for exercising his free agent rights to pursue his profession where he wants. Especially after he gave Cleveland 7 loyal years of carrying a team not capable of carrying itself and took them from one of the worst teams in the NBA to a annual favorite who had a great record and made the playoffs.

Promising the fans you are going to stay with the team and win them a championships before the playoffs starts, then flat out quitting against a team you are better than and have a lead on in a playoff series is why we are pissed.

Its like getting cold feet and bailing on a bride right before the wedding. Its a total dick move and unforgivable. Sure its your right to not marry the girl but its the worst possible way to end things. Do you think LeBron could have done anything worse in his exit from Cleveland? I dont.

I'm not a Cavs fan but I hate LeBron for what he did to Cleveland, and that's MY problem. I support fellow fans, even if they're fans of a different team.

You totally missed the point, but okay.

The big problem with him leaving was the way he did it. I have no problem with him actually leaving. The Cavs were an older team basically filled with role players. He went to play with another superstar and another star - fine. It was a good choice, the right choice. But he didn't have to go on national tv to do it.

Yes, he could have talked trash about Cleveland. You seriously think he quit? I would think that Lebron wants the title more than any fan would.
