I am trying to find a link, but I believe the pick is lotto protected.

Understandable that it is lotto protected, but the protection decreases every year which is a very good thing.
Looks like we'll be hoping for the Kings to get in the playoffs as the 8th seed this year.

Casspi is instantly our starting SF which is a good move, especially with the logjam we had at PF. Hickson just didnt fit in Byron's system and I really think Casspi will.
Good luck to JJ.

I think we will get more out of Casspi with Irving and Davis running the point. I actually think he will be a really good fit in Cleveland. Nice to have some size at the 3 as well.

I'd rather have a unprotected pick in 2014 then a 15-20 pick in 2012.

lol, no team would be dumb enough to send an unprotected pick this soon after the LAC fiasco.
not sure what I think about the trade yet. too much protection can make it pretty bad tho.

Very interesting. And hopefully the pick is unprotected, I don't see why we would want a protected pick.
I like JJ but as some already pointed out, he's not the best fit.

Cleveland knocks about $1 million of their team salary next season as well. Boom.

From Amare to Casspi and a lotto protected first.
Youch.

LOL we were never getting Amare and even if we would have he would have been here for 3 months and then bolted just like LeBron did. So...
From potentially Amare for 3 months to Casspi and a lotto protected first.

There was never a possibility to trade JJ for Amare stright up, if that's what you're trying to say.

I like the deal considering we're getting a 3 who can play, and we don't have that, hopefully Sacramento makes the playoffs somehow and we can use the pick.
JJ is a decent player but Tristan has the potential to be even better.

The pick is said to be fully lotto protected

Its done.
http://www.nba.com/cavaliers/news/trade_110630.htmlVery heavily protected pick to the point it could possibly disolve into a second rounder in 5 years:
"The first round pick acquired from Sacramento is lottery-protected in 2012 (1-14). The pick is then protected in 2013 (1-13), 2014 (1-12) and 2015-2017 (1-10). If the pick is not conveyed by 2017, then Sacramento will convey its own 2017 second round draft pick to the Cavaliers protected (56-60)."
Strikingly bad value.
Good to see we're focused on improving our defense....by adding Casspi

Looks like we're hoping for the Kings to make the playoffs, and it looks like the rest of the league caught on to the fact that Hickson is an idiot who wants BIG money after the season, if there even is a season.

And we all know JJ would ask for huge money next year, he was on his way out for some time.
I hope he can take the Kings to the 8th at least. Good luck to him.

Never understood the 'he wants big money' argument to getting rid of a player. Someone has to be willing to give it to him before that's a problem.
Anyway, this trade will only be good if the Kings are....yikes.
