With all this talk of Baron Davis being waived it makes me think... what are the Cavs going to do this offseason? If we have about 10 million dollars to spend on someone do we make a big play for someone young, or just keep it for next year.

Personally, I would love to see the Cavs make a run at some young SG. Afflalo, Nick Young, Marcus Thornton. Someone who would be able to put points on the board playing off of Irving. What are your thoughts?

I like Affalo, but my belief is they pick up some insignificant free agents to fill out the roster.

Ideally, I'd wait and go after Oden in next year's FA. I would like Afflalo but I think he'll be expensive because of how many other teams want him. With Nick Young, we would probably have any offer we could afford matched by DC. Thornton doesn't play good enough D to really warrant an offer from us as a rebuilding team IMO. But yeah, getting Afflalo would be perfect.

There is really nothing for the Cavs to do in free agency. Just play the season with this roster (without Baron Davis). Only consider trade possibilities but not expensive free agency beyond this season. Set the team up for next June's draft.

Oden is hirt again. I'd stay away from that trainwreck. I feal bad for him but we need to build with solid pieces.

I think this injury pretty much ends his career. He'll never see a big payday again unless he plays a couple complete years at the minimum where he stays healthy.

What the Cavaliers need iswell rounded players that can play on both ends of the court. THose guys tend to be expensive though, so I think our best realistic option is adding a one dimensional player that adds balance to all our other one dimensional players.

In this case I'd like to see them pursue former Warrior Reggie Williams. The guy can simply fill it up, and while he did sign in Spain this summer he can be brought back for $1M.

As for Oden, I'd still pursue him next off season. All this does is drop his price, it doesn't heighten the super high risk he already was, nor dampen the potential return on him. Not going to be spending huge money on the guy at this point - or if someone tries to just stay clear.

I really think we should look at Hasheem Thabeet too. He was just amnestied and we have nothing to lose in gambling on a huge bust.

Counting the rookies we are going to have more than 15 guys on the payroll already, so there is a very solid chance we do nothing at all. I'm fine with that too.

I would be interested in taking a flyer on Thabeet as well. Either Varejao and Thompson's hustle is contagious, or the kid is not meant to be in the league. Also, if Baron is still around, maybe he can get him some easy buckets to get his confidence on track.

Looks like they brought Anthony Parker back. I'm really suprised by that, I would that thought he'd try to latch on elsewhere. Hopefully its just a one year deal.

Parker signed a new deal this morning. Terms of deal still not known.

It better not be more than a 1 year deal.

I hadnt heard about Thabeet. I think he is the type of young and inexpensive project type of player this team should be taking a look at. You cant teach size, and his ability to block shots (in college at least) is intriguing. And it is a position of need as well.

AV, Erden, and Hollins are all FAR more competent options at center. Thabeet is garbage. You don't think a rebuilding team like HOU would want him if he was any good?? The fact that he was the only #2 pick to spend (a lot of) time in the D-League, he was on a rookie contract so he wasn't expensive, and he was on a rebuilding team that NEEDS a center, and they don't even keep him for depth...I hope to God we don't waste our time on that foul prone stick that has no brain.

I'd like to monitor Eric Gordon, and if he accepts his QO and becomes unrestricted next summer when we have a bunch of cap space we should make him a nice offer. By then we'll have the pick too. Imagine drafting Drummond and signing EJ... Kyrie/Gordon/Drummond/Thompson and then next year have another max offer slot too...if we can actually hit home runs for once, things could be really interesting in the near future. EJ's from Indiana I believe, so he'd be close to home.. That could be a legit scenario if the FO is patient. Even if we drafted Barnes, having EJ and Barnes on the wing would be really really good. We should also look into maybe making an offer to Roy Hibbert when he becomes an RFA next offseason. We are in position to shed some unguaranteed salary for Gibson and make room for 2 max slots, so I'm not saying those guys deserve the max but we'll have wiggle room. That would be an epic summer, getting those 2 in FA and a high lotto pick. Something our FO should look into, being patient and making the right moves, not moves just for the sake of making them,

I'd rather take on Baron Davis or 2 for a high pick or 2.

Eric Gordon is restricted next year and very overrated anyways.

I'm not sure why you say the Cavs should look into being patient immediately after suggesting they overpay (and screw future flexibility) for not one but two players. Completely contradicts the idea of patience.

Forgive my ignorance but what does the J stand for? Why is it EJ and not EG? Never saw that nickname until the Paul trade.
