what for AV?

Post#1 » by eagle13 » Wed May 9, 2012 11:24 pm

Friendlly Bucks fan here. AV is getting kinda old for a rebuilding team. Would a good PG Beno Udrih's expiring, young C Larry Sanders and 2013 top 10 protected 1st interest?

I would prefer your 2012 pick so what type of frame work could be done to make that deal?

Meyers Leonard, Terrence Jones, or Terrence Ross, depending on what happens with the Cavs 1st pick.

Varejao + #34; for #12 + Udrih sounds about right. If Udrih wants to sign, kick in rights to Sacramento pick.

Is not Milwaukee rebuilding too?
Well at least we're not Detroit!

The Bucks aren't rebuilding, they are retooling. With Jennings and Ellis in place they are a big away from a solid playoff run.

I simply disagree. Even if the Bucks were a big away from a solid playoff run, do you really think Varejao fills that void?

If we move Andy this team will be seriously void of any veteran leadership and experience. That in and of itself means it will take a lot to get him in any deal. Add to that we would be absolutely awful in the front court without him.
I guess the 12th pick in this draft is a lot to give up for a guy who has had some injuries and is near 30, but he really was playing at an allstar level with Kyrie before he got hurt. I think the team would have to consider this type of deal, but I think it would have to happen on draft night depending who would be available at 12.

Re-tooling? Re-tooling from what? They were never good.

Three points to consider:
1) They have their young core of Jennings, Ellis, and Ilyasova. According to Skiles, the Bucks are looking for a defensive oriented Center.
2) Hammond and Skiles are in the last year of their contracts.
3) And Kohl is trying to make the case to replace the Bradley Center.

I have a question about AV too. I was thinking a trade with OKC might be enticing.

What about James Harden and Perkins for AV and your first, first round pick. Along with OKC and Cleveland swapping the 24 and the 28 pick?

A back court of Harden and Irving would be amazing to watch with a sky high BBIQ.

You downgrade a little with Perkins but Harden is a superstar waiting to happen. And who knows how good your lottery pick will actually turn out?

Look at some of the recent top 4 picks.

2000 #1 K-Mart, #2 Sro Swift, #3 Darius Miles, #4 Marcus Fizer

2001 #1 Kwame Brown, #4 Eddy Curry

2002 #2 Jay Williams, #3 Mike Dunlevy, #4 Drew NotGooden

2003 #2 Darko I think we all know who went #1

2004 #2 Okafor, #3 Ben Gordon, #4 Shaun Livingston

2005 #2 Marvin Williams

2006 #1 Bargs, #3 Morrison, #4 Tyrus Thomas

2007 #1 Oden

2008 #2 Beasley, #3 OJ Mayo

2009 #2 Thabeet

2010 #2 Evan Turner, #4 Wes Johnson

Sure there are some LeBron James, Dwight Howards and Kevin Durant's at the top but if Cleveland doesn't get the #1 pick James Harden is a real safe bet.

So what do you think? Are you intoxicated with the "potential" or are you open to a sure thing?

By the way I love Irving, he is going to be amazing.

I have to say that I really like Harden, and Perkins too, but I just dont see the team moving the pick unless they are absolutely in love with a certain player and that player is gone when they pick. But why would OKC do this? There is no need for them to break up their team for the potential return of that pick when they are contenders right now.

They have given a max deal to Durant and Westbrook. Harden and Ibaka are both free agents the same year both are looking at pretty big dollars and quite simply there aren't enough dollars to go around. As much as I love Harden, you don't let your biggest impact post player walk so you can keep a great third option.

Harden's role is a 6th man, obviously the dude is good enough to start and be a star for a team but if the Thunder can upgrade at center with AV and put the lotto pick in a similar role as Harden, 6th man kind of role then they can put off paying out tons of coin to the luxury tax and there is rumor that the majority owner of the Thunder is actually pretty broke.

So I think not spending extra cash would be pretty appealing to ownership.

The Cavs could keep Varejao. It is good to have a veteran presence in a young team and even though he makes a lot of money, he is worth it, imo.

Anderson Varejao
11-12 $7,700,000
12-13 $8,400,000
13-14 $9,100,000
14-15 $9,800,000

The last year is a team option.
This is a big contract for a rebuilding team. It will be the highest salary in the team, considering Jamison is leaving, and he is turning 30 this year.

AS I said, I think it is worth, though.

That is considerably below average pay for an above average frontcourt starter who is not on a rookie contract. If he gets hurt, maybe not so much then. He's not as good as all of these players, but for reference sake, the Bigmen left in the playoffs.

Clippers-Jordan makes 10/10.5/11/11.5
Griffin on Rookie Deal

Spurs-Duncan makes 21

Lakers-Gasol 18
Bynum 15

OKC-Perkins-7/7.8/8.5/9.1
Ibaka-rookie Deal

Sixers-Brand 17/18
Hawes-Rookie Deal

Celtics-Garnett-21
Bass-4

Heat-Bosh 16/17.5/19
Whatever scrub starts at center

Pacers-Hibbert-Rookie Deal
West- 10/10

Yeah, the thing is the Cavs werent nowhere near the playoffs, and a rebuilding team shouldnt be spending a lot of money on 'old' guys. But I think he is worth, in this cas, because, as you said, he is an above average frontcourt player and it is important to have a vet presence on the squad

Andy's a guy I'd like for the Pacers.
He could back up both Hibbert and West and get some starts here and there. He'd fit with either guy and give us a really formidable trio up front.

He makes a lot but he'd get close to starters minutes for us.

We have a lot of small pieces that could help you starting a big comming back and some sort of pick exchange.

I really don't think the Pacers have anything that we'd want (at least nothing you'd give up that we'd want).

+1

It would have to be Paul George and Indy doesn't do that.
