The Harrison Barnes Thread
I've watched a lot of film. Watched the combines and the interviews. I am 100% comfortable with Barnes @ 4 if that the way the chips fall. I'd have to consider MKG if he slips but he is the only possible player that I consider over Barnes.
I brings the ruckus to the ladies!

I'm sold that he has the talent to justify the pick.
I'm also sold that its a great fit for Barnes and the organization.

I'm officially sold on Barnes at pick 24 unless theres a guy I like more on the board at that point, which is highly probable.

The last time I felt this negative about a perceived top 5 talent was Wesely Johnson and before that Hasheem Tabeet. Now I like Barnes more than I like either of those guys, but I really don't like him at all in top 10. You can't be inefficient in every statistical category and disappoint 2 years in a row in college and go top 5..
Drummond and Barnes I am very negative on.

My fear is that Chris Grant fell so deeply in love with Barnes last year that he still hasn't gotten over him. He now has a chance to get the guy he always wanted. This is a huge problem.

OK, in addition to liking Barnes, I really don't like Jeremy Lamb. I think he is going to be a wasted talent in the Association. He looked so indifferent during the combine and I think he carries himself that way on the court too often as well.

Take Barnes. He will give this team a traditional make-up similar to the Celts. If Beal is taken, this team at the very best would be a weaker LeBron-Wade combo. Barnes mid-range game is valuable in today's league. You take Barnes and you have two clutch players who can be depended on. After that, a good defender at the SG spot is a must, someone like Thabo. Those are a dime a dozen.

Completely agree.
The big sell for Barnes for me is that our two best players will be complimenting what eachother does....as opposed to competing for opportunities to do the same thing - as the case would be with Beal and Irving.

On the other hand... sometimes drafting need over BPA can go wrong. I'm not saying Beal is BPA but if the Cavs think so and still passes up on him, another Milicic over Wade instance could happen.

Btw in this video Beal barely looks taller than Cassell.

Too undersized for my taste.

Haha, I've been saying the exact same thing about those two for the past several months. The mental gymnastics that people are doing to justify Harrison Bust as a lottery pick is amusing. He can't drive to the hoop, he can't create his own shot, he can't dribble, and the one thing that he's supposedly known for, shooting, he's not even very good at. Unlike these sheeple that keep regurgitating the Harrison Bust hype, I utilize a new fangled device to make my analysis, they're called eyes.

What exactly makes Barnes "clutch" because it isn't anything that he's done on the court. When he no longer had his stud pg to set him up for spot up stand still jumpers, he was atrocious in March Madness. Harrison Bust was shut down by 6'2 guards from the Ohio Bobcats. This guy has bust written all over him.

I know he had a bad end of the season this year, but take a look at what he did his freshman year. The guy was money

Welcome your new Cavalier, Harrison Barnes
According to an NBA source, Harrison Barnes had a workout scheduled in Sacramento on Friday, but has cancelled.Top 4 promise?
— James Ham (@James_Ham)
http://twitter.com/#!/james_ham
1. Davis
2. Robinson
3. Beal (with the recent Ariza trade)
4. Harrison Barnes (cancelled workout with Kings who goes 5th)
Only thing that could mess up the above is if Charlotte drafts Beal (not likely).
Time to accept it fellas.

Re: Welcome your new Cavalier, Harrison Barnes
Man I actually hope so. Looking at these stats wow.
Measurements for the 6-foot-8 Barnes were off the charts, as he registered the highest no-step vertical jump (38 inches), the fourth-highest maximum vertical (39.5), the fastest three-quarter court sprint (3.16) and bench pressed 185 pounds 15 times. For some perspective, his no-step vertical ranks fourth all-time, his sprint is only two seconds slower than John Wall’s time from two years ago and he matched Kansas power forward Thomas Robinson in upper body strength.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't his athleticism the main concern? So what's the problem now? His play without the point guard? We have Kyrie Irving, LOL, to hell with Kendall Marshall.

are we possibly being less than honest with Barnes/Kings?

Think about this one.
Drummond already worked out for Kings, who have the #5 pick, and Portland REALLY WANTS Drummond. They have 6th and 11th of course.
If we were to do a trade involving 4th and 24th for 6th and 11th on the draft day, and if we really wanted Barnes, wouldn't it really make sense to tell him that we'd pick him if he's available when we pick. Now, this is assumed to be 4th, but really it'd be 6th. Kings now lose out on Drummond when Portland drafts him, and with this they're not familiar with Barnes (their focus kind of shifts from Barnes when he cancels the work out, and that situation kind of goes sour). Now they're in position to draft either Beal/MKG/Barnes and 2 out of those 3 will be available. (Davis first, Robinson 2nd, 1 out of those 3 goes 3rd, with Drummond going 4th). If Robinson doesn't go 2nd and he's still available at 5, then of course that's their selection.
Which could be a bait, they could also at that point draft Barnes to spite us, the reports came out that we liked Barnes and would draft him, if he's available. Maybe we don't really like him, maybe there's an unreported flaw in his game that they seen during the workout, Kings don't get to work him out, THEY WON'T KNOW.
Then you draft 6th the player you were going to pick 4th anyway, remainder of Beal/MKG.

If Barnes indeed does have a top 4 promise, it could be with Charlotte at #2. They need a young SF, they already have Henderson at the 2, and Barnes should be able to sell a few more tickets in Charlotte.
Well at least we're not Detroit!

My feeling is it's with the Bobcats, but if not them, I guess it must be you guys.

How can it be the Bobcats when they haven't even worked him out yet? He works out with them this coming Thursday.
