Zeller is a very good pick up for us.

Assuming Andy hasn't been moved, we now have a very good three big rotation. He brings some of the low post offense that Andy and TT don't. He's not long, but he's big enough for that role.

He is our new franchise C of the future. Whats not to like?
Seriously though, I think he can be a solid starter in the near future. I just think we could have done better overall.

Great move by you guys, well done. We're idiots for giving you Zeller for peanuts but if anyone deserves a good deal right now it's you guys.

Thing I like about him is his ability to run the floor and score in transition. That's a pretty rare quality among seven footers. We should have a pretty good running game with Kyrie/Waiters/Zeller/TT. With these picks it looks like Grant, Scott and company have a well thought out plan to build a running team around Kyrie. If Zeller ends up being a 12/8 type player who can hold his own on defense I'd be happy.

He was projected to go 10th, he fell to 17th and we gave up 3 players who are most likely not going to be a factor.

So yeah.

+1

He was a value pick at #17 since he was projected to go earlier. He might not be a superstar, but I believe that he will become a solid big rotation player that the Cavs needed badly.

I usually do not make definitive statements like this, but anyone saying that they do not like Zellers in Cleveland is an idiot. I thought for sure that Houston or Milwaukee would take him earlier. Especially Houston, they have been lacking a center since Yao, so they pass on a center projected in the 10-12 range not once, but twice?
Well at least we're not Detroit!

I'm very happy on getting him. I don't think we gave up much for a guy that could easily have gone a little bit higher than that. We badly need scoring inside and I think he can provide just that.

Oh and, Zeller is the most NBA ready center in the draft.

Remember guys, he's a senior.

Most other centers take a while to grow into a NBA player, Drummond will obviously take years, Zeller will be a factor day one.

A rotation big taken that late? Not bad, not bad.

It was crucial for our team design to have a big man who could space the floor. Waiters and Kyrie are going to need space to drive the lane, so hopefully Zeller can spread things out for us. We also have three bigs now with high motors, which is great for us.

Not to mention, it'll be fun to chant ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ once again.

I really like this pick... I hope some of AV's scrappy hustle defense rubs off on Zeller in practice. He really compliments TT's game, and I love that he's a legit 7'1... yes, he has a shorter wingspan, but everyone seemed to be all about Cody Zeller, who has similar measurements. This was a steal for us.

That's funny. He's the best running big man in the entire draft. In college the dude routinely beat every other big man on the floor down the court in transition. He also beat quite a few wings/guards in transition too, just because he ran hard every time.

Here are highlights from his junior year. Focus on the way he runs the floor during the fast break.

Now Irving has a big target filling the lane on all those fast breaks, as well as a guy who can hit right and left-handed hook shots in the halfcourt.

I think he'll be a very solid big. Not a star, but someone very solid who can score in the low post and defend/rebound.
