2012 NBA Las Vegas Summer League

Post#1 » by zol2332 » Fri Jun 29, 2012 2:36 pm

http://www.nba.com/news/2012-summer-lea ... index.html

The league tips off for the Cavs July 15th. Those committed to playing have been listed as Kyrie Irving, Tristan Thompson, Dion Waiters, Tyler Zeller, Samardo Samuels, Alonzo Gee, and Donald Sloan. That's AV short of our entire team. Undrafted Free Agents will be brought in....my hope, Hollis Thompson and Scott Machado are among that group.

Nice. 4 of the starters in the summer league lineup will potentially be in the lineup for next season.

Its going to be a ton of fun to watch our summer league team, and we get the added bonus of allowing our young guys to really learn how to play with each other.

Guess we learned from Gee & Hudson situation about giving short contracts.

So I'm guessing Kyrie does this to gel with his teammates against suspect competition? Because clearly he is too damn good for the summer league.

You use summer league to work your game. You try to implement those thing that you worked all summer on.

The summer league wouldn't individually help Irving's game... He has arrived and is much better than the summer league.

Gelling is the only reason Kyrie goes IMO.

Waiters playing like poop tonight. He looks so short and chunky out there, no way this guy is going to be able to play SG in the NBA. I didn't like the pick on draft night and I don't like it tonight. I can't believe we passed on Barnes for a short chunky PG.

Everyone on both teams sucked. Waiters will be 5x the player Barnes will be in the NBA. Waiters is fat and chuncky but has one of the lowest body fat %s in the draft....

Where is this body fat % thing coming from. He wasn't measured at the combine so how do people know?
Just curious, he really doesn't look fat the guy is just thick. Larry Johnson of SGs.

I hope for Cavs fans sake that this is true, but I just don't see it. Barnes so far is looking like he'll at least be a quality starting SF in this league, if Waiters is gonna be 5x that you must be projecting him as a superstar. And if that's the case, I must ask, what exactly are you basing that on?

I hope so too

That was not good. I expect a long year with no free agents coming to c-town for any time soon. Thanks again Ladouchebag.

Can anyone tell me how Zeller did? I saw that he had 14pts but am interested in how they were scored. Was it just easy put backs? Did he make a few jumpers? How was his post game?

Zeller's mid range game looked pure. He has a nice stroke but the dude needs to bulk up. He got pushed around a bit. Otherwise I have no complains on his 1st outing.

He had a nice dunk he got up... He also runs the floor very well and had a nice layup in transistion from waiters. He also had some jumpers and showed a very nice low post move that got called off for hooking him. But when they showed the replay me and both commentators disagreed(it was an awful call) but I think if he bulks up he can start at the 4 and play a little 5. Thompson had trouble scoring all night it doesn't look like he improved much
