Wow you guys must have been pretty cold blooded to outlast that whole LeBron Saga. I've been sitting here the whole Free Agency, waiting for Ray Allen to sign. At numerous points I thought there was a high probability Ray Allen wouldn't return to Boston, and I didn't even think about it like I am now. It's like it hit me with a train; Ray is not coming back to Boston, and I've been sitting here in awe mourning over the loss forever now. I didn't even bother trying to fall asleep until 5:45 as I was on here reading all of the sad Celtics fans' posts and reading the Miami Heat fans' celebration as if they had just come back down 3-0 to win the NBA Finals.

It never even hit me what you guys even went through. Ray didn't make a TV show on ESPN to announce his decision, and better yet, we are still decent title contenders. Like LeBron, Ray left a whole legacy behind to go ride the balls of the big 3 to a championship, and I can't believe it. It make me appreciate how you Cleveland fans went from NBA elite to rock bottom in an instant, an I never even thought about it. Huge props to you guys. Keep on rebuilding and I hope to see you guys winning championships over LeBron pretty soon.

In all due respect this is not even close to the same thing, We lost the tone of the top 3 players in the league you lost an aging veteran who's better days are behind him and has bad knees and lets not forget he helped get you a title. No Comparison at all with this one.

anyway, appreciate knowing someone understands, as we get bashed most of times.

Luckily you don't have to deal with LeBron fans constantly berating your team and using every opportunity to put LeBron on a pedestal.

Do you live in an alternate reality? Judging from the forums, Heat fans had more respect for Ray Allen than Boston fans did. They're the ones stating that Ray should have been traded, how he is worthless, a defensive liability, an offensive ballstopper etc. Now they're upset that he left, but they'll be right back to calling him a one dimensional role player at best who is "barely better than James Jones" soon enough. Oh wait, it has already happened.

Maybe some Boston fans have been down on Ray, but to generalize and imply that all Boston fans were down on him is wrong. That kind of thing happens on virtually all of the fan boards, some fans like a player and others call the same player over-rated or one-dimensional so I dont really get you jumping on the op like you did.
I can appreciate the op's sentiments, but at this point most of us have put the Lebron thing behind us. At his age I can understand a player ring chasing, but in this case Ray already has won a ring so its not like Karl Malone signing with the Lakers or anything like that. I have always thought of him as a classy player, and this doesnt really change my opinion of him as a person, but I do root against the Heat (like I do the Yankees and Steelers) so I wont be cheering for Allen as a member of that team.

I thought it was really lame how he left to join the Heat's big 3... it'd be interesting to get the real scoop on what was going on between him and Rondo that supposedly led to him leaving

Trapman, Dont get a freaking attitude about it. First off I was not being an ass about it, but do not tell that somone from Boston understands? Maybe if Bird would have left in his prime, then maybe they would understand. Now that's comparing a similar situation.

Dude's going a bit overboard here. They even had his replacement under contract (Terry) before he even left.

Strange boston fan feeling like this...I am a Magic fan and I recall the Lebron decision drama, and how some of fans were like Magic fans you are next. I thought to myself, "Naw Dwight will never leave the team".

Wow was I wrong about that, not only he is demanding on leaving the Magic, but have lied to the entire city that he wanted to stay a few months ago and how the city needs a better hero in him. I am very close to feeling what the Cavs fans have felt 2 years ago, and would have never guess that I would be feeling down like this. Glad Cavs are soon to be back on top thats for sure! Hopefully in next few years or so Magic and Cavs rivalry would be once again epic!

Ray did you a favor by leaving. Avery Bradley will be your SG going forward and with Allen gone he'll be able to play without stepping on Ray Ray's toes. Win win for Boston imho!

I don't think he was comparing the size of the loss. I think he was just admitting that at the time he didn't really think twice about Cleveland, and now, with a little reflection brought about by Allen leaving, he suddenly realised 'Wow...if Ray leaving has this effect on me, what the f*** did Cav fans feel like when LeBron did a runner...'

For what it's worth, I LOVE Kyrie Irving. Not as good as LeBron, but man...I'd find it a heck of a lot easier following a guy like that...

You think that's bad, think of all the NYK fans who just lost Lin. At least Lebron and Allen had the final say in their choices. Idiot Dolan just let Lin walk when he could have matched.

Ray allen chose the place he would win. So all these chicken heads coming to a star studded lineup to win champsionhip, is pretty lame. But theres no loyalty to boston, so sorry for that.
