The Magic and Nets are making progress on a Dwight Howard trade, as the Cavaliers have emerged as the needed third team.
Cleveland would acquire Kris Humphries in a sign-and-trade.
The Nets would send a re-sign Brook Lopez and a collection of future first round picks for Howard.

I do not want this. This is not a good thing. Why don't we just sign him straight up? There's no need to give a pick or something for Kris Humphries. Or would we get something back?
Any who, why yould want another PF who would block TT's growth?

I agree it doesn't make sense the Cavaliers would want to give up much to participate in the deal since they could sign Humphries outright. I suspect the Cavaliers would get Humphries for a song (e.g., a future second round draft pick) or would actually get something useful from the Nets. Of course, we also know the Nets are going to be trying to send a load of first round picks to the Magic. Though its not clear to me where the Nets are going to get all these picks from.

Adrian Wojnarowski @WojYahooNBA
As @KBergCBS reports, Cleveland's legit 3rd-team scenario for Kris Humphries. Cavs want draft pick sweetener to take him on, sources tell Y!

@WojYahooNBA: Cleveland's interest with Humphries is exclusively to use him as a means to stockpile further draft picks and assets, league source says.

We'd get something with him. We could sign him outright so the only reason we'd engage to be part of the deal is if there were something else in it for us.

From Tommy Dee:
Source regarding possible 3-team trade with Cleveland, Brooklyn and the Magic re: Howard. "All the pieces seem to be in place."

I suspect Gilbert could be thinking a Howard+Dwill+Johnson combo would create headaches for the Heat.

What if we got Brook Lopez somehow, since the Magic probably don't want to commit big money to anyone for a rebuild?
Just throwing things around because speculating is fun!

This would be, I think, the best deal for us. We get an offensive presence to mesh up with the rebounding skills of AV and Tristan.
With that said, we have ZERO chance of getting it.

I'd take Humphries, I think he rounds our frontcourt out nicely. You can't just give TT playing time cause he's there.

We'd be a pretty filthy rebounding team with AV/Humphries/TT/Zeller out there.
I'd also be interested to see if we were targeting one of the sharpshooters in Morrow or Reddick. The shooting would be a nice addition and one of them could start until Waiters was ready.

I'd take Marshon off their hands.

I guess it comes down to whether Orlando thinks they can make a play for Bynum, Paul, Griffin, Curry, Harden, Ellis, Iguodala, Evens, Martin, DeRozan, Ibaka, Jefferson, Millsap, etc in 2013.
If New Jersey can S&T Humphries to Cleveland, they would be able to wipe out most of Orlando's future salary obligations and it becomes an issue of whether Orlando values picks or cap space more.
Brooklyn has their own 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 etc picks, Houston's lottery protected pick (first available in 2013, 2014, 2015, or 2016). Brooklyn does not have a 2nd round pick until 2016. The Cavs already hold the rights to Orlando's 2013 and 2014 2nd round picks.
With the shrewdness of Chris Grant my guess would be something along the lines of the Cavs taking the Houston pick, Humphries, and the Brooklyn 2016 2nd rounder, the Magic getting their 2013 2nd rounder back.
