I think he's incredibly soft, but he would be an excellent pickup for 3-4m/year off of the amnesty wire. He could give us 20-25 minutes per night and would allow both TT and Zeller to become more acclimated to the professional game. I believe he has 3 years remaining on his contract.

AV>>> Haywood, and he'd only take minutes away from Zeller and TT (he'll still play minutes at the 5 in small ball) plus he's not that good at all anyway

I would pass on Haywood, but I have some interest in Brand.

IMO I think that he would be a good sign for 3 million or less per year. I think that he can do well altering shots and bringing height to our team on both sides of the court. I would prefer us to take a look at SCOLA. I know many will disagree because we need to rebuild and of course we are rebuilding but please take a look at this lineup. Its an instant playoff lineup.

pg- Kyrie (up his minutes to 36-40 per game)/ Flynn (sign him)
sg- Waiters/Gibson
sf-Gee/caspi/
pf/scola-TT
c-Varajao-Zellers

I dont like our 3 gaurd spot. I like Gee off the bench. He gives a spark of energy that we need. I think if everyone is so crazy on our young players then lets trade verajao for a 3 gaurd to start. I also think gibson will shoot really well at the 2 spot this year and give us a great spark from deep.

Just a rough draft but I think we would be a force down low with scola.

I'd prefer to have Scola instead of Haywood, now that Scola is available. I know the popular move here is for us to completely suck for like 2 or 3 more years, but adding one of these guys will help the players that we already have to grow.

But isn't that AV's job? He's a solid playoff vet, been to the finals... why would we want guys that would actually take minutes away from said "mentored" players? totally counterproductive IMO. Needless wins, will never be a part of our future core, and takes minutes away from young bigs... no thanks to either. There is a reason they were amnestied by teams projected to have not so good years.
