Hope we don't start winning too many games (but I love the new guys from Memphis so I'm okay with that too). But I saw the Arizona - UCLA game recently and now think Shabazz Muhammad is our selection if we get into the top 3. I've watched Zeller, Noel, and Bennett and am not as impressed as I am with Muhammad. He is a scoring machine and we need a 3 with an outside shot.

If we do not land one of the top 7 picks (which will allow us to take a Zeller, Noel, or Bennett), I think we will go after Len from Maryland, a big which maybe a huge risk but as potential with a pick like a number 8 to 10.

I agree. Mohammed and Len seem most likely. Otto Porter as a sleeper.

I read somewhere that the Cavs were looking at Len, Zeller, and Noel this year.

Scoring 3 is what we need. Do not want Noel at all or Zeller. The kid from Kansas or Shabazz. Go for a low post threat with our second first rounder. TT is starting to establish a post game - but we need someone who can score on the block.

Shabazz is barely 6'6 in shoes, no way is he a starting 3 on a contending roster. I'd love to get him though just because his game compliments Irving so much more and allows Dion to be more of a sixth man... whether or not that's how Grant sees is it another story. I don't want Zeller, at all. I'd rather have Len, tbh. Noel is a crap shoot, either he becomes an elite defensive center... or he gets pushed outta the paint and an offensive black hole. I'd like to see more of Porter, he seems like he could fill a nice hole on our roster.

I would love Shabazz if the general fanbase could accept it. It would solidify our backcourt for a decade. Kyrie and Shabazz starting at 1/2 with Waiters playing starters minutes as backup PG/SG.

But I doubt that would be the pick unless we really think he could play SF. Aside from that I'd love to end up with Noel or another big.

Shabazz and Len have been my top two, but Noel and McLemore are really increasing their stock.

Shabazz height worries me especially since we are basically undersized in every position right now, but if he's there he's got to be an option. If not him it'd have to be one of the bigs.

Ben McLemore would fit perfect next to Kyrie Irving.

Keep in mind that Muhammed supposedly has a near 7' wingspan and already has an NBA body. WIth that being said, I think we need a 3 and D SF, but that could be someone we look to acquire in free agency.

This.

But it kinda makes picking another shooting guard redundant.

Could Waiters be a permanent 6th man? He seems to play better off the bench and he can create off the dribble while McLemore can't really. I just think McLemore still has a huge impact on games and he'd fit great with Kyrie because he's a knockdown shooter in addition to being a bigtime athlete.

I would definitely go with Ben McLemore and then attempt to trade our pick from the Lakers {I see them making the play-offs 8th 0r 7th seed} and our second to get back in the top 10 if possible. Hopefully we could have Anthony Bennett in our sight if not maybe someone like Alex Poythress. Taking McLemore would give us an additional scoring threat along with an uncanny defensive disposition he brings on a nightly basis. Not to mention his athletic prowess which is off the charts. Also with this selection it would put Dion in is comfort zone as a 6th man but he would still be able to collect starting mins between PG/SG as mentioned before. This is all contingent on if the players mention decide to come out of coarse

I think either McLemore or Shabazz would round our a three guard rotation with Kyrie and Waiters.

I'd lean toward Shabazz because he's longer and can play the three. I realize that he doesn't have an ideal guard skill set, but the two guys we've got are ball dominant enough I don't think he'd have to.

Someone mentioned Otto Porter, I do like him a little later a lot.

Assuming that we are in a position to draft McLemore and we sign Oden. I'd draft McLemore then with the Lakers pick if they make the playoffs, I'd pick LeBryan Nash.

My biggest concern with this year's draft is our GM. Still can't believe he took Dion just because we needed (and still need) a center and a SF. Andy is not a center. Barnes (or Drummond) were the obvious choices at 4.

Don't get me wrong I'm happy with Dion and his play as a rookie this year but we have Kyrie. We did not need a similar style player who needs the ball to score. We needed to pick for need even if Dion was the best player avalible. I'm still scratching my head on that pick.

Who knows who we will pick but at least there are a few quality bigs if Shabazz is not there when we pick in 13'.

Noel is the best defensive player in college basketball and we are one of the worst defensive teams in the league. I think we should pick him.

Idk if I'm in the minority but the prospect of a 6'5" SF doesn't look too appealing to me, and while Shabazz has shown he can score efficiently he hasn't shown he can do much else.

My best case scenario is we get Noel and the Lakers make the playoffs and Otto Porter falls to us. That makes us better defensively right away. We need length and we need players that know how to defend.

Sorry, you don't ever pick for need early in the NBA draft. Otherwise you end up picking Sam Bowie instead of Michael Jordan. You pick who you think will be best. Obviously I thought we should take Drummond as well but that's because I firmly believe that if you are going to gamble it's better to gamble with a big

You can pick for need in the draft, especially in last years draft where picks 3-8 could have went any way and no one really would've said much about it.

You pick players that can fit in to your team and have success, like Barnes. Barnes is a good shooter and would've gave our offense some spacing that it desperately needs and Barnes is most effective playing off of the ball like he did with Kendall Marshall at UNC. We can't dwell over bad picks, but this isn't the NFL and BPA isn't always the right answer. Obviously you don't make ridiculous reaches, but at the same time you don't pick a player who doesn't fill a need at all.

I have to once again disagree although with a caveat, if you have all the players even then sure you can pick whichever is the best fit for you. But picking the best player available in the NBA is 10 times more important than it is in football.
