I can't believe that the Cavs are actually considering this.. IMO, it makes no sense to fire Scott and then hire Brown. I am still a little bit traumatized with his fail at making adjustments, his rotations, his utter lack of offense, his reliance on one superstar especially in the playoffs. Sure the Cavs may get better defensively, but the offense? I do not want to know.

For as much flack as people give his offense it was top 10 his last 3 years here and the last two it was actually better than his defense. This was likely the best team in Cleveland that any of us have seen in our lifetime. To not give any credit to Coach Brown is a major cop out. The guy created an amazing team and earned the respect of his team through hard work. Oh and just so were clear, LeBron loved and still loves him.

My only worry is that the mob mentality of Clevelanders will scare off the front office from re-hiring him.

a lot of the issues that anyone would have with Brown has to do with what he was given. It wasn't as though he was given great players. The fact that he made that group a good defensive team is virtually an act of god.

That's silly. You start with the single greatest athlete in the world who is defending the best player on the other team most nights. He recovers and defends the fast break better than anyone ever. You throw in a hustle guy like Andy and then mix in solid rotational defenders like Delonte West, Anthony Parker and you inspire the rest of the team to work on D. Almost every NBA player can defend if they put the effort into it.

This years Cavs was dead last in team defense. If you add a healthy Varejao and LeBron to the mix they are top 10 without question.

We could do worse than Brown, but his rotations were head scratching, and he was regularly outcoached. One would assume that he has learned some since last time he was here, but what could he have learned from the Lakers experience? That Kobe runs that team? Like Lebron did here? That Steve Nash is old and cant play defense, that Dwight is a petulant man/child? That situation was so dysfunctional that I doubt there was much if any growth for M Brown there.
If they hire Brown, there HAS to be an offensive minded coach to run the offense. I would almost rather have Skiles here, except that every time I see his bald head and the sour look that is perpetually on his face I have the urge to punch the TV screen. From what I have seen I think Nate McMillan would be worth looking at though he will likely have a few other choices if he decides to be a head coach next year. Brian Shaw is always on the coaching candidates list and wouldn't be bad either.

I'm sorry to hear this Cleveland. I mean, this is like one of those situations where you break up with your girlfriend, and a year later, start remembering all the good times and forgetting the bad ones, so you get back together only to realize that it wont work. I watched enough of Brown to know he's not going to out coach playoff coaches on their worst day. And yes, poor rotations all the time. Let him go to Charlotte and see how successful he is

When did this get blown out of proportion? Most nights? There has been too many times when he was guarding someone insignificant.

He guarded Rafer freaking Alston and Rondo before he was any good for two whole playoff series. That was actually a pretty regular occurence. Lots of misinformation seems to be circling about and people are revising the past to make it seem like it wasnt the best stretch of basketball in the NBA for several years.

I really just want to start banging my head on the wall. He should have been fired the year before he was fired when we **** all over the bed in Orlando. He should have probably have been fired the year before that when we lost to Boston and the team seemingly regressed everywhere. He is not a good coach, he just had the best player in the game on his team and an owner who had no limit to the amount of money he would spend on a winner.

I hate this more than anything.

This is the guy who will make you play better defense and probably win a lot of games..but when it comes to adjusting in games and having smart rotations in the playoffs he's the guy who will lose a game with coaching. We saw it in the Orlando series and the Boston series. I'm not sure he'd be a great coach for this team because we still need a lot of development and he hasn't proven to do much of that. See: Boobie Gibson never really becoming better, JJ Hickson underachieving.

I'm not big on any candidate but I know Mike Brown is one of the worst choices.

^ He's been a big supporter of brown the last year or so. Think he supported him recently by saying " Why wouldnt cleveland be interested". Obviously rates him as a coach/person.



Despite what a lot of people are saying i'd prefer to go in a different direction. Yeah he's a very successful and great defensive coach but we've kind of tried and failed with that experiment. He got out coached his last two playoff series here. (2009 & 2010, 2009 was especially bad). As everyone saying he's some what lost offensively and his rotations and in game adjustments are pretty awful.

I'd rather a more " complete " coach, though i would like what he'd bring to the team defensively. But even then the defense side really fell apart in those playoff series where we were pretty bad.

In saying all that i'm not too aware of other options besides already made nba coaches. A.k.a i don't know much about available college coaches etc.

Please Please Please no! The only reason Mike Brown was goood at all was Ladouchebag just like the only reason Miami is more than mediocre is Ladouchebag. It took LA less than a year to realize Mr. Potatohead sucks. Please stop this thought. I'm ill just thinking about it.

If we must have a past Cleveland Coach make it Mike Fretello. He was able to win scoring 85 a game too but he had crap.
