Asik rumors and talk begin

Post#1 » by shazam » Fri Jul 5, 2013 10:09 pm

Let the rumors and talk of Asik to the Cavs begin now that Howard has decided to go to the Rockets. He doesn't give you scoring but he gives you a bruiser underneath and a physical presence at the rim and that is what the cavs absolutely need. Would be surprised if not at least exploring the option. His contract is bad though alot of cash backloaded.

Him being traded to Atlanta for Josh Smith has to be the most likely scenario at this point. Would love Asik though.

Wouldn't mind Asik. He'd be a welcome sight on defense. Don't know about the fit with Tristan, though. He would, however, be great with Bennett.

But it looks like Milsap is going to ATL. Why would they pursue Asik as well?

I think Thompson would have to be in the deal which is a shame but oh well.

@ BMAC - Smith seems the most likely but i like the fit of ryan anderson for them better.

PG ?
Harden
Parsons
Anderson
Dwight

That spacing around dwight is perfect. Like Orlando but he never had anybody the caliber of Harden there.

I think we'd have to be the 3rd team in any trade to get Asik. Thompson wouldnt work for them. But i can dream.

Milsap would work well with asik if they moved Horford.

Cannot see them moving Horford. And it sounds like its going to be Ryan Anderson for Asik

His contract is a flat $8.375 for 2 more seasons, any site that lists it differently is run by a kid eating Hot Pockets in his parent's basement. His salary would only have had the $15 million spike in 2014 if the Bulls had matched the offer.

Grant has his sights on 2014 where he might have a 5 percent chance of getting the king back...
I wish we could actually do something besides sign Earl Clark...

maybe we should try to grab Cousins from the kings?

Varejao straight up. He would be perfect for the Rockets and is a better player than Asik. Asik gives us a long term center prospect and perfect compliment to Bennett. Tristan can be a 12/10 6th man playing over 30 minutes a night.

We would have to add value of an AV for Asik swap. I am sure they are targeting another big name (Josh Smith) or significantly better fit (Ryan Anderson).

Omer Asik is 27, can't catch passes in the P&R and isn't a long term option for anyone.

He'd be best suited as a backup.

While he isn't a good starter he is not a back-up.

His age combined with only three years of NBA wear and tear without missing a single game make him a decent long term option.

However, with only a 2 years left on his goofy back loaded contract I wouldn't be willing to give up much to get him.

Yes is he. Better offensive (way way better), defensive, and rebounder. He get injured a lot but hes definitely better.

14/14/3.5/0.5/1.5 and a 22 PER vs 10/11/1/1/0.5 and a 15 PER.

Asik has more value right now than Varejao and I don't think Varejao is a good fit for the Rockets. If Varejao pulls off another miraculous recovery then he will be the better player for at least next year.

Varejao is the guy you send to a team who is in desperate win now mode. Rocket's window is just opening and looks like it will be for awhile. They can find a more traditional power forward that fits better. Varejao's best value is at center.

I wouldn't be surprised if OKC shapes up to be our best trade partner for Andy again. Not sure if they have the kind of assets we want but it's long time until trade deadline so there is no need to get ahead of ourselves.
