NBA.Com Team Preview

Post#1 » by TheOUTLAW » Mon Oct 14, 2013 11:02 pm

Wow, talk about glowing preview. There were folks saying that the Cavs "could have" as much as 55-57 wins and being a 5th seed as the up side. Of course, the downside was injuries.

Overall they had good things to say about everyone although they also seem to be predicting a trade down the line because of the Cavs depth.

Oh yeah, they also seemed to pretty much ignore Karasev who I think is going to be a great addition.

Kenny the Jet Smith picked Kyrie to win the MVP as well. My jaw dropped when he said that and 57 wins. Even being a huge Cavs homer, there is no way I think the Cavs sniff that many wins yet. I sure hope I'm wrong, but that big of a turnaround would be flat out ridiculous.

57 wins may be closer to he 3rd or even 2nd seed than the 5th seed.

Yeah, that was what I was thinking. But I also thought that 57 win thing was a pipe dream. One of those things where everything went right for the Cavs and everything went wrong for a bunch of other teams.

This is a tad more reasonable.

Healthy other than Bynum = playoffs.
Healthy including Bynum = first round home court

I really think they have the potential to be that good. They still aren't ready to make much noise in the playoffs because they're missing a star starter, but in the regular season their bench will out play everyones'.

No way we win 57. We are miles away from good.

By the way, worst offseason move so far - Earl Clark 2 years at 4.2 mil damn. He's slow and can't score. Awful move

Yeah, Clark is looking pretty useless, but it was also a low risk move. If he could at least hit a jump shot he'd have some worth. Right now, he can't make a thing.

To get home court, they'd have to beat out one of Indy, Chicago, Miami, and either Brooklyn or NY. I'm high on the Cavs, but that's awfully high expectations.

I agree. Our ceiling is the 5th seed and our bottom is the 8th. I think it would be sweet to play Miami in the 1st round though....

Well it's very possible the Knicks take a step back while Brooklyn has a so-so regular season but is a tough out in the playoffs.

Still, a fourth seed for the Cavs and the leadup to it (even contending for it only to fall to #5) should be a great feel-good story across the league.

Knicks are going to struggle this year and the whispers of Melo leaving are going to be a distraction. Then he'll leave and go to LA.

sure, but you still have to beat out the Nets, too.

No way are we going to have home court. Heck, I really can see situations where we don't make the playoffs. That said, I think we could be as high as 6th.

I think the dominos that would have to fall to miss the playoffs are less likely than making the playoffs.

I don't think the Cavs will beat out either. I see 7th seed at best.

I could see 6th, maybe 5th if they buy in wholeheartedly to the team concept and defensive focus.
