Unintended favors?

So far Love has leaked that he wouldn't re-sign with the Cavs and Calipara has declined a $60 million contract that would have given him final say over personnel decisions. I think both of these men have done the Cavs a favor.
If Love isn't going to re-sign with the Cavs, then any question about what the Cavs should trade for him should be answered. Otherwise, I could have seen Griffin way overpaying for the rental.
There is no reason to give a coach with no success at the NBA level the final say over the roster. That's just crazy IMO.
So here is my question to my fellow Cavs fans, if Kyrie turns down the max, will that also prove to be an unintended favor for the Cavs?

No it just means no one wants to come here If anything Dan Gilbert looks stupid if he did this on his own without his GM's knowledge Dan needs to stay out of everything

There is no way Gilbert did this without talking to Griffin first. Frankly, I don't think Griffin was a good hire. GM's who think that defense is overrated scare the crap out of me.

Jason Lloyd was on CBS Cleveland today stating that Gilbert alone was courting JC and nobody knew it in the Cavs front office

It was also reported that this occurred prior to hiring Griffin as the full time GM.

Don't get me wrong, I am not in love with Griffin, (but so far so good).
I just think its wrong to have an owner free styling w/o the GM's knowledge as was reported. Glad to hear it happened before the GM was in place.
But I think Gilbert still should stay out of things, just let the GM (whoever it is) do their job.

The reporting on this is all over the place. There are reports that these conversation happened before Griffin was even fired.
