#5 and Favors for #1?

This is being tossed around Jazz radio. A lot of us hate the idea of giving up on the young defensive anchor with a great contract. I was curious to see what Cleveland thought of it.

Not interested. Take a shot at star potential.

As an outsider (not a fan of either team), I dont like it for the Cavs. Favors is good, but not worth anywhere near the $12M or so he is going to be making next year. I also think the drop off from 1 to 5 is too big this year to justify the trade.

We tend to think he's a bargain at 4 years $49M. Its under the going rate for bigs like him:

12.5, 12.5, 12.5, 12.5 Derrick Favors

15.7, 15.7, 16.7, Brook Lopez
11.3, 12.0, Kevin Garnett
14.1, 14.6, Tyson Chandler
11.0, 12.0, Andrea Bargnani
15.3, 16.8, Carlos Boozer
10.4, 10.4, Tim Duncan
11.6, 12.2, 13.4, Joakim Noah
14.0, 14.0, 14.0, 14.0, Josh Smith
14.3, 14.9, 15.5po, Roy Hibbert
12.0, 12.0, 12.0, Al Horford
13.5, 13.5, 13.5po, Al Jefferson
19.0, 20.6po, 22.1po, Chris Bosh
13.0, 13.0, 13.0, Nene Hilario
20.5, 21.5, 22.4, 23.3po, Dwight Howard
17.8, 16.5po, Zach Randolph
14.9, 15.8, Marc Gasol
10.0, 9.3, 8.5, 8.3, Tiago Splitter
10.8, 11.3, 12.0, JaVale McGee
10.1, 10.9, 11.6, Danilo Galinari
14.7, 15.7, 16.7, Kevin Love
12.1, 12.1, 12.1, 12.1, 11.6, Nikola Pekovic
12.3, 12.3, 12.3, 12.3, Serge Ibaka
14.1, 15.2, LaMarcus Aldridge
14.2, 13.0, 12.0, 11.0, Andrew Bogut

16.4, 17.6, 18.9, 21.0, 21.3po, Blake Griffin

As a Jazz fan, I've decided I will be very happy either way.

If the Jazz retain Favors and get the BPA at 5, great. If we trade Favs and the #5 for Wigg or Parker I'm good too. Can't wait to see what happens.

Wonder if this is part of getting Love and Bron to Cleveland.

Lineup of Love Kyrie Favors and Bron is a finals team.

As a Cavs fan I would take this deal right now. This very minute. I apologize on behalf of my fellow Cavs fans who have already bought tickets for the Wiggins/Parker HOF induction ceremony.

I love this trade for Cavs if Embid falls to 5.

Cavs still get a great 5 for now and allow Embid to sit out a yr to heal. Then next off-season they can make a more legit push.

Or make this a 3 way and try and net Love? Cavs should deal Irving for Lawson/11th pick/2016 1st....then deal Favors, 11th pick, future Denver pick, Thompson, Waiters FOR Love

Roll with Lawson, Love, Varejao core...draft Embid who is waiting in the wings.

Unless we're moving #5 I'm not a fan. Vonleh, Gordon, and Randle don't fit with Favors. Smart doesn't fit with Irving.

That said, I've lived through Brad's back & Z's feet. Not digging the prospect of both. Wiggin's analytics are less than optimal.

I think Favors is BPA at No. 1 if he's in this draft. If Parker isn't a Mormon, Utah doesn't even consider this trade. You can always move back, take Embiid if he's there, or trade the pick for another veteran.

This onlymakes sense if you move Varejao, 5 Jack and Waiters for Love and Budinger, and then sign LeBron

I think Favors is best at center. He has a 9'2 standing reach, and he jumps very well. He's strong enough to defend post players. And you can't pick and roll him because he's so fast on his feet. In that way he's kinda like Tyson Chandler. But they have a lot of differences. I'd be sad to see him go.

What else are we sending out?

Also, it hasn't escaped my attention that Favors is the perfect PF to play alongside Pekovic...

Yeah. Minny isn't getting Favors. The can have TT and No. 5. A Favors/Love front court is the real deal.

Favors/Love/Kyrie is an expensive core without room to add a veteran leader on the wing. I'm not opposed, just observing.

Kyrie can be extended after they go get a SF. I have a feeling that Kyrie might take a little less than the max if the Cavs had a really good roster.

Been reading different opinions on this and it seems pretty split. Kevin Pelton of ESPN thinks that Jazz giving up Favs and the 5 to get Wigg or Parker is too high of a cost and not worth it.

Personally, I disagree with him and think it's a win win for both teams.

Just picturing a Love, Favors, Kyrie, Melo/Bron core and Cavs would be champ contender. Jazz would have Parker/Wigg, Burke, Burks. Hayward, and Kanter and continue asset accumulation.

I think it helps jazz get who they want and launches Cavs into the next phase.
