Question for Cavs fans, Wiz fan here
After reading the Waiters thread on the GB.. I was curious as to why you all are so high on Waiters. I think he's a nice player, who would thrive as a super 6th man like Manu or Crawford but the Cavs fans that post about him like to think of him as some future superstar, just wondering what the reason for that is as admittedly I don't watch many cavs games but I saw him play twice this year and he just kinda chucked both games. He made alot of them in 1 but iirc he had a horrible shooting game the other game. So what's the deal on him?

Re: Question for Cavs fans, Wiz fan here
as soon as I read this thread, I was reminded of this game where Dion played 32 minutes with 24 points (11-for-18), 4 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal in 115-113 win at Washington... was that a "chucker" performance to you, hisalness56?

what makes a guy a chucker, anyway? The ability to create his own shot or make shots or just take them? Waiters played great that game so for you to describe it as a chucker performance is so funny. He scored in a variety of ways and shot well from the field, helped his team win the game... what's a guy got to do? sheesh
Waiters is a tough player, a big game player, a shot maker and willing playmaker. He's a young player so obviously he's not a finished product. Does he have superstar potential? Yes, I think so

Waiters is borderline elite at beating his man off the dribble, which is not something players typically develop in the league. He is also a good, and still improving, outside shooter. Though still inconsistent, we saw Waiters play some solid defense this past year. So when you combine the three, great creator, solid shooter, improving defender, and you add in the chip on his shoulder that he plays with, he has the makings to be a legit player in this league.
Well at least we're not Detroit!

Dion sure gets a lot of buzz from non-Cavs fans for how sucky of a bust he is.

Well after you stole our pick (Beal) we came up with Waiters as the alternative, and it was a damn good alternative.

Re: Question for Cavs fans, Wiz fan here
Most of the people that comment on Waiters have hardly ever even seen him play, they are just idiots parroting the comments made from other idiots around this board. But admittedly, early his rookie year he was a bit of a chucker, but it's a daggone shame that folks on a basketball board aren't smart enough to actually watch a player play and understand what his strengths are.

First I acknowledged that he made alot of shots the one game. 18 shots is still alot. The other game he shot 2/13. He played against us twice this year and was a combined 13/31 which is 41.9%
I didn't say I think he sucked I said I hadn't seen him much and that he had a good game and a horrible game against us which doesn't show me superstar... which is why I asked. Because I didn't know and wanted to know what he was good

Thank you for actually responding and not just saying "Why do non cavs fans hate Waiters?"
I always thought he would be suited to a 6th man role because IIRC wasn't he one at Cuse? And I figure that a) how ball dominant he and Kyrie seem (since you said his best aspect is driving) and b) drafting Wiggins who I've read to FO projects as a SG that 6th man would be his best fit

You have to keep in mind that Waiters was a sixth man at Syracuse because Boeheim plays upperclassmen over younger players. Despite that, Waiters still logged starter's minutes his sophomore year.
Well at least we're not Detroit!

I think Wiggins will be a SG in this league for all of five minutes. He's 6'8" and the scouting report on him is he can't go to his left and he can't dribble. Does that sound like a SG? Dion's splits from last year show that he was actually better as a starter.

Jarret Allen isn’t winning you anything. Garland won’t show up in the playoffs. Mobley is a glorified dunk man. Mitchell has some experience but is a liability on defense. To me, the Cavs are a treadmill team.

Wiggins "can't drible" thing is as overstated as much as his lack of offense is.
But yea I do agree, he won't be a SG for much.

Wiggins isn't a guy you are going to want to try to create a lot one on one from the top the key. At least not his rookie year.

True, another reason why we have to keep Waiters.

Re: Question for Cavs fans, Wiz fan here
As a wiz fan I really think Irvin, waiters and wiggins have potential to be as good as the wiz 1, 2, 3- It sets up for some good Cavs Vs Wiz battles like Gil vs Lebron 2.0. Gives us something to look forward to if the heat and bulls pull that superfriends big 3 crap next year. I think it gives us the unenviable goal of fighting for 3rd in east (yes I am discounting the pacers because wiz should have closed those posers out last year).
I actually saw kyrie torch the wiz in dc this year and then had the pleasure to have damn near court side tickets I'm Cleveland to watch wiz and WallStar DESTROY the Cavs. kyrie looked uninterested or at worse hurt during that game.

Re: Question for Cavs fans, Wiz fan here
LOL, Wiz fans crack me up. It's not as though the Wiz big 3 (who is the third anyway) are better than the Irving and Waiters. If they are better it is not by much. Fact is the reason that the Wiz are better is because they are older and they have Nene and Gortat. Not from Wall, Beal (who I think is going to be a very good player) or Porter.
