Marc Gasol.

We need to save our assets for the trade deadline and hope Grizzles are out of the top 8 around February. Their pick then becomes very valuable and I think they would be more willing to move Gasol. He is the perfect center for this team.

For better or worse, as long as Memphis is at all in the playoff mix, they are going to ride out the core of Conley/Gasol/Randolph/Allen until it completely sputters out. Robert Pera has made this clear and so has management with the moves they have made. I expect Gasol to sign an extension with Memphis during the upcoming season. They certainly wouldn't trade him to Cleveland if Wiggins wasn't coming back.

You are probably right, but if they are out of the playoff picture in February and realize the cavs own their pick, things could change.

I've been thinking about Marc Gasol ever since LeBron made the decision & can't really come up with a better fit for this team, you have better players but there isn't a best player who won't be diminished as a player that fits so well than Marc.

One of best defenders, can knock down a jumpshot, half of his points come from more than 10 feet, doesn't demand the ball, rebounds great but isn't a stat padder, probably best passing center.

All in all, it doesn't get better, amazing fit & he's been playing WINNING basketball for a while now, & best of all you have a guy who won't be unhappy because his stats are hurting.

I believe,

1) Gasol has more value than Love, so no Wiggins no Gasol.

2) If healthy they make the playoffs easily.

I cant possibly see Gasol staying long term and Memphis and im sure Cleveland can get Gasol without Wiggins just like they can get Love without Wiggins. You tell me how many times a #1 draft pick was traded for a player the same year he was drafted. Hint hint: It doesn't happen very often and Gasol isn't the quality of player that its happened for.

Memphis is a good team, couple breaks their way and they could win a title. I doubt we can get Gasol at this point in time and I would trade wiggins for him.

You want a guy who can be considered on the level of a star when he has his head on straight, and you could probably get without even it being debated about having to offer Wiggins?

Roy Hibbert.

Think about it. Even at his worst, he's a great defender. Always seemed to defend the paint well against Lebron that Lebron could consider it a great opportunity to have Roy on his side rather than against him. And, factor in that Larry Bird wasn't actually the one to re-sign Roy; he was a free agent that was re-signed when Larry Bird had to take a year off for severe back issues.

I know, it looks fishy for a Pacers mod to pitch a Pacers guy when honestly, I wouldn't want to trade him at this point (after having lost Lance for nothing). However, he IS a realistic target out there, and Wiggins wouldn't ever be demanded as a piece. I'm not honestly sure what it would take (and I'm not even going to discuss trade values out of courtesy to this forum), or even if it could be done without a 3 team setup. But, he's a top tier center, and you could use one. Play him with guys that can actually feed the post like Kyrie, Lebron, Mike Miller, etc, and he could really be a dependable guy.

Just saying. Could keep Wiggins, and still strengthen the rest of the roster. Ponder on it.

I'm actually all for Hibbert (what kind of pieces would you guys want back?)

but his breakdown after Bynum trade isn't exactly best indication of being stable, yeah he's a good kid & won't get in a shootout in a club or with a brick in a bando, but, he's mentally weak.

Which shouldn't be an issue here at all, he'd be 5th best on the roster at best.

What pieces? I don't know. We lost Lance. If Bird moves Hibbert, I just don't know what it would be; if it would be a complete rebuild, or if it would be more of a shuffle and keep going at it kind of thing. It's hard to say. No matter what, it obviously wouldn't involve Wiggins, which is the biggest thing. Maybe it's a midseason thing, maybe it's even after the year. Hard to tell. I just think that if Bird gets an offer he personally likes (and that probably wouldn't even be a massive offer like would require to move West), he'd probably do it.

While I'm over here.......Perkins and Lamb plus a first? Or Perk/Jackson and a first? Either of those close?

For Hibbert? Probably not. They're not awful, and I'm not completely privvy to what Bird would value Hibbert at, but, they'd be tough to consider, especially AFTER we've filled out the roster. Mid-season, maybe if we could send out some of the new guys to clear roster spots and the like, who knows?

Who knows. It very well could be enough, but I just don't know how Bird actually values the damn guy!

Hibbert is OK he is just overpaid IMO. Also I didn't like his mental breakdown last year - that was a bit of a red flag. I could see a deal though because he would fill a huge void in CLE but not sure what the Pacers are looking for in a trade.
