I think the Wiggins/Love trade was a very good one for the Cavs, but if Embiid was totally healthy and they had taken him #1, I don't think I would've traded him for Kevin Love.

The only major weakness the team has now is interior defense. Embiid/Varejao/Lebron/Waiters/Kyrie seems like a complete line-up, and Embiid's potential to be dominant in a way that complements the other guys is makes me keep him.

What do you think?

I would not have traded Embid but would start Bennett instead of Varejoe or sign Marion and start him! Here is a what if though. If Cavs had drafted Noel instead of Bennett make Wiggins trade with picks. The lineup of Noel, Love, Lebron, Waiters and Irving wins the championship I think with Thompson, Varejoe, Miller Marion and Dellavadora off bench!

Embiid is Oden 2.0. He's a bit more fluid, but he's also not as solid coming out. Both are walking injuries, both will not play in the NBA for very long. When will teams learn that big man who have been injured, keep getting injured?

If Embiid is healthy no team is trading him. He has the ability to be a real game changer if he can stay on the court.

I think this Love thing was happening regardless. But Embiid is the guy that would've been the hardest to trade because of his upside. But Love was gonna be a Cav regardless as soon as we got LeBron

the "if healthy" debate is useless

at this point we dont know if and how injury Prone Embiid will be

i wish him a long and healthy career but fragile Big men are a Red Flag especially since Oden.

if he never was injuried i think the Cavs would have done everything to keep him

but "if healthy"" thats a sad,sad "if" "if Penny,Grant Hill,T-Mac,Yao,Roy" where healthy...

Embiid would have been traded as well but you dont have to add in Bennett and a pick to make it work. Embiid for Love straight up.

This is the answer. A healthy Embiid nets us Love and Dieng. We add Bennett and better picks.

Drafting Noel instead of Bennett could have changed some things. Even if Noel didn't play last season, Cavs winning or losing a couple more games might not have given them #1 pick = Wiggins

No, healthy Embiid would step in & post up 20/10 first season.

I was scared of the Cavs drafting him before the injury. Getting Greg Oden images in my head

the same questions about potential apply to embiid as wiggins.

Healthy Embiid with Lebron, Kyrie would have been interesting.

I bet an ice bucket challenge that embiid has a relatively healthy career

He doesn't have degenerative issues like Yao or Oden did

hell Oden had one leg an inch and a half longer than the other due to surgery and it went uncorrected for 7 years

Yao was 7'6 and 330 lbs,

Guys like him and Shaq ( who missed a lot of RS games ) were more likely to break down due to excess weight and size

Embiid has that David Robinson like potential. No way I trade him for Love.

I wouldn't have, but LeBron probably would have.

Hell no you don't trade a healthy Embiid. His combined physical/mental talent is HOF-caliber, and he translated that potential into an historically great freshman season only matched by Ewing/Oden/Hakeem/Robinson/Mourning: http://hoopsanalyst.com/?p=1259 It's extremely likely that a healthy Embiid is a HOF'er who makes an enormous impact on both ends of the court.

A healthy Embiid is a more important player than Love, and at 1/4 the price.

Minny would've had the choice of taking Bennett/Thompson/Miami pick/Memphis pick or dealing with a different team. If Minny were to pass on that offer, Cavs should have kept those assets or used some/all of them to trade for someone else (like Ryan Anderson). Things would have maybe gotten interesting if Minny had upped the ante and offered Love/Dieng/LaVine for Embiid/Bennett.

If Minny takes the Bennett/Thompson/Miami pick/Memphis pick deal:

Irving/Delly
Waiters/Allen
LeBron/Miller/Jones
Love/Marion
Varejao/Embiid/Haywood (though Embiid would probably come off the bench initially)


If Minny were to get Cavs to agree to Love/Dieng/LaVine for Embiid/Bennett:

Irving/Delly
Waiters/Allen/LaVine
LeBron/Miller/Jones
Love/Thompson/Marion
Varejao/Dieng/Haywood


If Minny passes and Cavs keep the assets:

Irving/Delly
