Triston wants $12 million per

Post#1 » by jbk1234 » Mon Oct 27, 2014 8:29 pm

Reports are that Triston wants the same money as Favors/Faried. I don't think there is any chance he gets that as a RFA. Anyone here think he is worth it?

Morris got $8 million from Phoenix. I'd say that is fair.

I remember someone here kept arguing with me he wouldn't get 9 per, Well.........

Anyway he's pretty much equal with farried as a player prior to the world champs ( maybe Farried will continue to break out like he was there though)

In saying that he's not worth 12 but we'll see how he progresses, he needs to be a real force on defence. He's probably worth 10 per IMO.

I'd meet him at 10 depending on how he did and the cap projections.

He's got a great opportunity to prove he's worth it.

Unless Cleveland foolishly pays him $9 million + because of some promise they made to LeBron's agent during the off-season, I completely agree that he won't get that figure on the open market. Just because his agent is asking for that type of money doesn't mean anything and goes a long way towards explaining why the Cavs haven't inked him yet.

As others have opinioned he's worth about $5-7 million per although someone might foolishly push that number up to $8 million next summer.

I think the exact opposite is true? He was hand-delivered 30-35 mpg on a bad team the past 3 seasons simply because they didn't have any other options. Now his minutes are going to be cut because he's coming off the bench. That's a huge reason why his agent is trying to get him locked in now instead of next summer.

If his agent was really trying to get him locked in now he wouldn't be starting at $12M.

The reason I think it is a great opportunity is because Tristan still should get very similar minutes, and the offensive system is designed to get him more open buckets. Plus everyone in the league is going to get to see him a lot more this year than they have the last three years combined.

From a pure basketball talent level - he is worth about 6.75M per year. Escalate the salary for overpaying big men in the NBA - and that gets pumped up to about 8M to 8.25M per year. Add the LeBron factor and he is probably going to get paid $10M per year. So if he signs a 5 year deal - we will be overpaying him by $1.75M x 5 years. So essentially its about a 9M gift to LeBron and his people over a 5 year span. Sign me up - even though I dont think Thompson is worth it currently.

I can see him getting 7.5, but no way is he worth 12. IMO he will have a great opportunity to prove that he's worth good money on this team. He'll largely be a garbage man, but those can be worth good money on a good team.

If past is prologue, then garbage men play well on good teams, get overpaid by bad teams, and quickly crash back to Earth.

12 million per for Trey Thompson will feel like a steal in 2017 when the cap is at 95 million. Plus, what's the cost of replacing him?

He's the only big that constitutes any sort of rim protection right now for the Cavs

If he keeps on kissing white reporters he's getting traded. I'd wait to see what he does this year then decide. Based on his first 3 years, he's worth 6

He's not worth 12, and shouldn't get 12.

Not worth more then 8-9 mill on the high side. Someone said he's simiar to Faried? Get out of here.....what Triston brings is easily replaceable.

Farried has been so overrated. Look at their production next to each other and add the fact farried is one of the worst defensive bigs in the league
