Kyrie is one of, if not the most, underrated players in nba

I've never seen a guy get trolled and hated on as much as Kyrie does for his status. Sure lebron gets more hate, but kyrie is not really a big superstar like lebron to where you can say he gets hate because of the fact that he's so known. He gets trash talked about him on sportscenter and the media loves to bring up his assist totals. It's almost like they've been trying to create a rift within the team by trying to make it seem like lebron should run point guard and that kyrie isnt a good floor general. Despite winning fiba mvp and multiple awards, most people don't even have him in their top 5 point guards in the league. Even after scoring 37 against the knicks and carrying the cavs in that game, Robert flores on sportscenter last night was dogging him talking about his lack of assists and saying that him scoring 37 and the cavs winning only worked because lebron had 12 assists. Forget the fact that Lebron had a bunch of turnovers, the rest of the team shot poorly and kyrie cut the lead to 3 going into halftime when the cavs were down by ten. Not only did flores get the amount of points kyrie got wrong but he basically said kyrie didn't get other guys involved last night even though he had 6 assists and did not take many shots.

People love to talk about his assist totals, but they ignore the fact that he has one of the lowest turnover numbers of any point guard and is above guys like steph curry, who many believe to be the best pg in the league, in assist to turnover ratio. Assist to turnover ratio is a better indicator of a point guards play because while assists depends on the person you pass it to making the shot, turnovers is all on the person with the ball in his hands. And for all the talk that lebron should run point for the cavs, kyrie actually has a better assist to turnover ratio than lebron and lebron is top 3 in the league in turnovers. I just don't get why kyrie gets hated on as much as he does. He doesn't get enough credit.

If he is underrated its only because he very recently stepped up his game.
He's very good, that's all that matters for us.

I don't think Kyrie is underrated at all. Kyrie is a great player, but he also plays in the age where there are a ton of super talented point guards. It really is no disrespect for him to not be in someone's top 5 PG's in the game. I think most recognize his skil set is unique in its own right. Now that he is starting to fully commit himself on the defensive end, the sky is the limit.

He gets recognized for his offensive skills but gets unfair criticism about his play as a point guard. Can he get more assists? Sure, but if they want to bring up his assist numbers they should also bring up his low turnovers. There's two sides of the coin.

I think he's starting to take massive steps recently.

He does cop a lot of criticism, a lot deserved but even so he was getting underrated big time.

People are trapped in an old-school paradigm that is continually discredited. Why must Kyrie be a traditional PG? Because he is shorter than LeBron? In my view he is a small SG with LeBron now assuming the duties of the primary ball handler.

Why? Because that is what the personnel on the roster dictates. Who cares about labels so long as Ws are notched? If people ask why this is so, the only answer is "because it works."
