Game 24: Cavs vs. Atlanta Hawks 7:00 EST, NBALP FSO

The Cavs look to build momentum at home as they host the surging Atlanta Hawks. The Hawks, who were curb-stomped during their last visit to the Q, seek revenge after a victory over the Central Division leading Chicago Bulls. The Hawks are 17-7 coming into the game. The Cavaliers started their home stand with a pedestrian victory over the moribund Charlotte Hornets on Monday night and have won nine of their last eleven.

Carried by NBA League Pass and Fox Sports Ohio.

Keys to the Game:

1. Play defense all four quarters.
2. Maintain intensity.
3. Continue moving the ball on offense.
4. Rebound.
5. Bench production.

Recommendations:

Post up Love and James frequently and hammer them inside.

Something was wrong with my TV. I turned on Fox Sports Ohio and they were playing what seemed like a prison gang-rape movie with people in NBA jerseys. The gang wearing white just couldn't defend themselves.

Kevin Love defense guys!!! Remember, what you see on TV is wrong, he's actually a great defender. The analytics say so!

Kevin is a bad defender. I knew that going in (I hope the Cavs did as well). What I didn't know was that he doesn't always put his hands up and that he actually sets a secondary pick on his own man when he is defending pick and rolls. I'm hoping they can coach him up in this regard. Championship teams can have minus defenders on them. I don't know if Championship teams can star two bad defenders, two average defenders on them, and one defender who is a good when he cares - which is less often than it should be.

My bigger concern is that I think LBJ and K. Love should probably play the same position two years from now. If LBJ is going to continue to be a game-dominating player for his next contract, I'm not sure it is going to be at SF.

There are a lot of problems. I think one of the biggest problems being overlooked is Lebron is not the player we thought he was going to be at this stage in his career. For the majority of Lebron's career, he has been one of the top 3 players in the league if not the best, no argument about it. This is the first year where I question whether he is still a top 3 player. Age and decline are going to hit Lebron hard IMO, Similar to Shaq. I don't see Lebron still being a star player at ages 33-36 like Duncan and Dirk have been able to do. Hopefully I'm wrong, but take away Lebron's athleticism and quickness and he is a borderline all-star at best.

EDIT: I'm not saying that He can't lead this team to a title, I believe it is still possible, I am just saying our window with him as our best player is a lot smaller than many of us had thought in the summer.

So much for that, embarrassing effort.
