New and rebuilt Cavs Roster

Gs:
Kyrie Irving
JR Smith
Iman Shumpurt
Mathew Delladova
AJ Price
Mike Miller
Joe Harris
Fs:
Lebron James
James Jones
Shawn Marion
Tristan Thompson
Kevin Love
Cs:
Timofey Mozgov
Brendan Heywood
I really like this roster now, we only lost Waiters, you still have alot of young talent in Irving, Shumpurt, Harris, Delladova, Thompson, Love and Mozgov is still somewhat young at just turning 28 and you have quality vets for leadership and showing them how to win. maybe not this year but if we can get 1 more quality year of Marion next year plus a hopefully AV since he and Mozgov will split minutes, making it easier on him, we should be deadly next year.

Gotta say I like it, as an outside observer, as long as you can work Love into the offense better and get him to re-up. Ink another center (Dalembert?) and you're in good shape- plus you can deal Haywood and Smith in the summer, and try to MLE someone to fill a hole off the bench..
I didn't realize Mozgov had played for David Blatt on the Russian national team, that's an interesting wrinkle..

The good thing is that even if Cleveland paid a high price somehow for Mozgov, you still got all your future 1sts.

Overpay for Mozgov. Two first round picks? One of which will eventually be claimed in the lottery range (Memphis). Can we have Grant back? All of our assets are gone now. This trade is going to sting when that Memphis pick eventually ends up being claimed in the lottery. Same with that Heat pick that was included in the Love trade as a throw in. What was the rush? It was not like this team was winning anything this year anyway. At least we should have waited till next year to see what happens with Memphis before trading that pick. Gasol leaving/randolph declining/playing in a tough west/injuries could have turned that pick into a lotto pick as soon as next year, then the value of that pick would have skyrocketed and we could have probably traded it back to Memphis for both Allen/Koufos or explored other tradez with it. Ever heard of waiting to sell high Griffin? FFS.

I doubt the griz pick will end up being in the lottery but the okc pick will be good.
Yeah Lebrons full of **** and had no intentions of building anything here, he wants it now. We've given up a lot of assets and young players, lebron and love better do something special here.

False. Our 2016 pick belongs to Boston and chicago will swap picks with us this year. We wont have our own pick until 2017. Considering our lottery fortunes this past May and the amount of flexibility and trade assets we had at that time, it is absloutly pathetic for this team to be in the situation they are in now. I mean, we are all just average fans and we could have done so much better if we were running this team. It almost feels like this team doesnt deserve to be successful with the way they continue to piss away opportunities by making stupid draft choices and horrible trades. If san antonio was in the same situation as us this past May/June, they would have been able to become title contenders for the next 8-12 years. Just sad.

Chances are the guys available with those picks (if we even saw them in the first round) would not be as good as Mozgov, you know he's at 15-11-2 per 36 right? and thats on 4.5 Mil contract for the next 2 years. Sorry, but thats far from an overpayment, try watching basketball. all of our assets? we still have haywards 11 mil unprotected next year which might be the biggest trade chip in the NBA when it comes to players for next year, plus we still have all of our own picks minus next years boston pick. sounds like you know very little about basketball.
wait til next year for Lebron and Love to leave ? right

you know its pretty much a 20th pick or worse right? nothing great about that.
we also have alot of young guys as stated in the OP, Irving, Thompson, Harris, Delly, Love, and Mozgov are still pretty young.
we lost an overrated chucker, whooop de doo.

Mprice, go back and read the draft threads on these boards from the last few years. And read our opinions on trading Wiggins for Love before the trade actually happened. I will tell you the general thoughts of the majority this board.
2011: draft JV with the 4th pick
2012: draft one of Barnes/Drummond at 4 if MKG/Beal are off the board.
2013: trade the top pick as no one in that draft is worthy of being #1.
Love trade: No way we should trade Wiggins for Love as no team has ever gotten such a high return for a disgruntled "star" player on an expiring contract. The majority of us were fine waiting till the deadline to see if Minny would give in and take a package of Waiters/Tristan/Bennett/picks.
BMAC, you've been around for all these disscusions the past few years. Am I lying about any of this?

When I say it's a good pick I meant it's gonna be what it's made out to be and not turn into a second rounder. Denver will get that pick straight away. Good year for a okc pick too.

its barley a top 20 pick, nothing great about it, below average as a matter of fact.

People are freaking out because you lost out on like the 20th something pick? Do you remember who the Raptors picked at 20? The guy who was 2 years away from being 2 years away? Calm down

Wait, remind us how many NBA teams offered you a job to GM their team? oh i thought so.
whats funny is your using hindsight for all that "insight"
you ignore JV wasn't going to sign here
you ignore Barnes wasn't considered very athletic and he still has yet to live up to the hype
you forget Drummond had a god awful year at UConn
2013 has produced some good guys, no superstarts but good 2nd tier guys.
Kevin Love put up the 3rd highest PER and one of the best years in NBA history last year, while Wiggins has been a bust to this point. in fact Wiggins rookie year isn't even as good as Waiters rookie year to this point.

Except it is not hindsight when the vast majority of the board agreed on those choices well BEFORE the drafts and trades happened. Go look up the draft threads and the Love trade thread before you insult anyone or call it hindsight.

Yeah we are definitely at the no-more-excuses point for any of the Big Three. I don't want to hear any nonsense about the coach anymore. Just go out and win. They've got a legit starting five (although I'm really, really worried about Shump's ability to stay healthy). The Cavs have pushed all their chips in the middle of the table for these guys, Griffin put his job on the line. Make it happen.
