Cavs at OKC post game 2-21

Post#1 » by TheOUTLAW » Mon Feb 22, 2016 12:52 am

Okay, it seems like folks are taking the Cavs for granted.

This was probably one of the Cavs bigger wins of the season (along with SAS) and yet there's not conversation around this game.

Fact is, The Cavs are a good team. Heck, I just saw someone say that the Cavs are worse than GSW, SAS, LAC and OKC. Without looking it up I believe we are 5-3 vs those teams and I'm pretty sure everyone knows that 2 of those losses were to GSW.

We haven't always played with energy this season, but most of us know that the reason our energy was low was because LeBron was coasting. Now, I'm pretty sure they've decided to put in into gear.

A 23 pt win over one of the best teams in the west is nothing to sneeze at especially being short Kyrie, Shump and Frye (who should be intriquing)

This is a good team

ALL IN

I'm ready to move Kyrie to SG. Our defense is so much better when he's not guarding the other team's PG. I'd also really like it if he and K. Love can find a way to have a big game on the same night with LBJ taking it easy for a change. I suspect that's only going to happen if he's not initiating the offense.

^ Kyrie doesnt need to play sg to guard point guards...

He really needs to work on his chemistry with love because he doesnt make things easier for love at all...

Anyway i dont think OKC are that good. Their defense is fairly average and their switching of everything today was terrible and helped us a lot.

I think if we are doing tiers its

GSW

Cavs, Spurs

Thunder

The Chris Paul Clippers

People are taking this win for granted, cause just like all the "top games" this season. This one was boring af.
Lebron running the point made the offense really smooth. The cavs gameplan seemed to be to limit the offense of kd and wb and turn the others (adams, kanter, waiters, ibaka) into scorer. Which worked pretty well.

Also good contributions from smith and jefferson made the game that much easier. I liked how lebron took his defensive assignment on kd more or less seriously.
So many people who attain the heights of power in this culture—celebrities, for instance—have to make a show of false humility and modesty, as if they got as far as they did by accident and not by ego or ambition.

How much better was the Cavs offense with LBJ and Delly initiating the offense?

Oh I know that, Kyrie doesn't know how to run an offense. We need to hire Nash or someone to teach Kyrie how to play:

Kyrie strikes me as far too intelligent not to understand what he's suppose to be doing.

How can that be the case with the results though? What is the cause? Just not good enough to make good passes and quick decisions?

I think it's more about having a point guard's mentality--whether he really wants to make the good (and not merely flashy) passes and the necessary (even if dull) decisions.

http://www.foxsports.com/nba/story/cavaliers-kyrie-irving-tyronn-lue-passing-stats-not-interested-012916

Via Jason Lloyd of Ohio.com, Lue noted that the Cavs make a higher percentage of their shots the more times they pass the ball in a half-court set. Specifically, they're hitting 27 percent of their shots without a pass, 32 percent of their shots with one pass, 40 percent of their shots following two passes and 52 percent of their shots after three passes.

It was an effort to generate more ball movement, and against a dismal Suns team, it seemed like it worked. But Kyrie Irving didn't seem too interested in heeding his new coach's advice.

“When you have players like we do on this team, I mean, honestly, that doesn't take away my freedom or what I feel like coming over half court," Irving said. "I'm going to make the best decision for the team and myself, coming up and being aggressive. One pass, two passes, three passes, if we get no passes and someone hits a shot, then I mean I'm still cool with it. As long as it's in rhythm and I feel like it's a good shot, I have confidence, no matter how many passes. That's an interesting stat though.”
RIP magnumt--you're literally why I'm still here on these boards.
RIP The Hater--keep up the good fight in the great beyond.

He just doesn't give a ****. He does what he wants and he wants to be the guy who wins the game by scoring a bunch of points.
