I would rather start Holland for better spacing and sit Rose if I had too until IT4 is back ,before giving up the perimeter defense in Shump,Osman etc just to get Carmelo.
The rumors flying around are not that good for the long haul for Cleveland, too much to give up,even if it is for a former all star and a banana boat buddy.
First I would refuse to trade Osman,Zizic and the Nets pick. 2nd I would only do the deal if it includes Frye & RJ.
This is not something that would likely be the best deal NY can get,and I doubt Sac would have any part of it without getting cavs and Knicks 1st rounders but about the only way I would consider moving Shump with salary dumps for Carmelo at the deadline,so I don't see it happening w/out giving up too much but here is about the only way I would:https://basketball.realgm.com/tradechecker/saved_trade/6948807

Not that Gilbert would sign off any deal with Pritchard, but I would see if Indy would swap similar players us getting the lower contract one, by offering up our own 2018 first and the 2019 2nd from Lakers or MInnesota which should be in the 31-45 range.
This would help us save some on the tax hit and Lance is at least as good defensively along with being a better ball handler.

send our 2 2nds. reduce tax hit reduce players under contract to 14.
Then trade Felder to New Orleans or Chicago for a tpe reducing to 13 guaranteed contracts. keep Finney Smith & Tavares.
Keep Holland on a two-way . add Liggins to the 2nd two-way.

I'm volunteering for Fansided and wrote my first article on the Cavs. The site editor changed the article's title (it was "Advice to Cleveland") but the article is mine starting from "The Cleveland Cavaliers franchise..." Constructive criticism?

I don't think Gasol moves the needle against the Warriors. Cousins is intriguing but the Brooklyn pick for what could be a 4 month rental is an overpay. If Cousins can't make it work with AD & Jrue, you have to start asking if his individual success translates to team success.

Don't have a ton of interest in moving Osman, but I would do this. No picks involved except maybe a 2nd to chicago or a highly protected future 1st.

massive 4 team salary dump.
Suns get Cavs 2019 2nd from Wolves or Lakers & Dallas 2019 2nd from GSW
Dallas gets Cavs 2018 1st top 20 protected & if not transferred Dallas gets Cavs 2020 2nd rounder from Miami.
Bulls get Suns 2019 2nd top 40 protected or extinguished.
Cavs give up 4 players get 3 back reduce tax hit and finish off the 15 man roster.

I'd do that too. It seems like a great move for Chicago who gets rid of last years 14th overall pick for Richard Jefferson, who fits their timeline perfectly and a guy about to be cut in Felder. If they don't trade for him now, they'd have to outbid all other teams for his services and that's no guarantee.

At first, I thought, this would be awesome! We fleece everyone into giving us young highly drafted players with potential and taking our high salaried old washed up players but then I saw that Shumpert was included and I don't want to move him after his huge training camp. A wise man once said training camp is really relevant. You play like you practice after all.

I guess i'd be interested if Rose was in there instead of Shump and if second rounder we were giving was also top 40 protected.

Maybe if the first rounder we were giving to Dallas was top 25 protected it would be more fair as well.

But if Dallas demanded our first unprotected i'd offer them Calderon and Miami''s second rounder, top 37 protected obviously.

simple trade to dump frye/rj send out the Cavs 2018 pick . in the trade machine I get back Luwawu-Cabarrot but could just as easily be Cavs get nothing back but Philly's right to NY 2021 2nd. reducing tax hit and reducing players under guaranteed contract to 14.

Philly doesn't need McConnell with Fultz and Simmons and Bayless.
https://basketball.realgm.com/tradechecker/saved_trade/6953047
give them a couple 2nds to take our expiring and clear/remove some tax burden to justify waiving Calderon or Calderon & Felder.
They could actually use a stretch 5 as well, so it is a good return for them for a player they won't need anymore.
McConnell is a stout on ball defender gets a lot of steals.

Hey Stillwater, what do you think the odds are of the Cavs making another trade this season? (and who would it be....like a major player like Kevin Love?)

Hey Stillwater, what do you think the odds are of the Cavs making another trade this season? (and who would it be....like a major player like Kevin Love?)

Unlikely anything major, maybe a salary dump of Frye tomorrow or Frye/Calderon after December 15th /Most likely any big contract movement will be hinged on the health of IT4 at the time which will be difficult to gauge not being projected for full return until right before the deadline. I don't see Altman finding a deal worth trading Love or the Nets pick,& I don't think Cousins who might be available (expiring contract)is the answer in a swap with Love or anything like that.
If Shump is underused by Lue they will shop him again, but won't find a trade partner, because his value is low being under utilized in relation to his paycheck, once he finds out he will play poorly when playing.
If They plan to move anyone else they better be damn sure the return is an upgrade, and the deal doesn't backfire leaving disgruntled players that were in the rotation.

https://basketball.realgm.com/tradechecker/saved_trade/6958412Here's one way to solve the problem if the Nets are too lucky in the first half and lower the pick value:they can have their pick back and tank the 2nd half of the year.
