This is about the only way I would consider trading for Butler to have a chance.
then we can move Hill at the dl and Smith on Draft night.
Cavs lose TT and Korver and the Cavs own 2021 first unprotected or light protection & get Butler and WCS
Sac absorbs Dieng and gets the team friendly sharp shooter Korver and rookie KBD and the Wolves 2019 first.
Wolves get expiring of Shunpert, get a couple years of Bogdanovich and an upgrade over Dieng in Thompson. They also get the Cavs 2021 first.

All I want for Christmas is for the Lakers to call us about TT's availability.

We need to trade Korver for a backup stretch 4. I'm not convinced Dekker is a second string PF in this league. When Nance gets back I'd like to move TT to the bench and he needs to play alongside a stretch 4.

What do you all think about the following Trade? Was the idea of a Spurs Fan.
Mills + Poeltl for Hill

pass imo rather keep Hill than get Mills contract just to add another young big without moving one.AustrianHamm3r wrote:What do you all think about the following Trade? Was the idea of a Spurs Fan.

P. Pat with OKC. But we'd have to find a third team that would give them an affordable PF for Arbines.

Poeltl and then I'd talk TT about a buy out next summer.

Poeltl is a gritty hard nosed big and I like that for the Cavs , but can't see Mills coming back making a lot of sense right now.

Love can't bet traded until January 26th.

Re: Trade Ideas (Part III)
I don't see the org moving Love at all this season, just too valuable as a Cav for the likely returns at this point.
Not to beat a dead horse but Hill and Korver are the highest value deadline players the Cavs have and will be fielding calls about.
Smith has off court contract scenario value only really at this point so it's draft night trade or waive him themselves.
Honestly I would trade Hoods expiring for a top 55 protected from a lottery team if he is still playing this passive by the deadline, but he has to agree to a trade so hopefully he gets his **** together.

Korver for Thon, DJ Wilson, and Sterling Brown?

Not sure any of those 3 are NBA players. Can you at least throw in a srp?

The thought was that while none of those 3 are NBA players (potential I suppose is there) Brown/Wilson both have team options so you can shed 4 million or so in salary and add a guy who can do some flashy stuff. I'm sure most of us would prefer to not add a pick, but we do have Washington's unprotected 2020 2nd round pick, or possibly Jodie Meeks? I really have no idea what the Cavs are trying to do though. If you're tanking this trade is pretty good I think.

We can get at least one second for Korver. Too many teams need shooters.

This will be the most interesting thread on the Cavs board for the forseeable future, until late in the season when draft talk heats up. Oh, wait, this is Cleveland, draft talk is year round in football so why not hoops as well.

Re: Trade Ideas (Part III)
Cannot think of too many trades with Smith right now that make a lot of sense, but here are a couple the Cavs might consider:
to Charlotte for Marvin Williams ( player option 19-20) and rookie two-way Xavier standout JP Macura.
I think this might be reasonable for both orgs given Charlotte is probably ready to move on from Williams with Bridges most likely better off at the 4 going forward. + they get to trim off the last year of his deal for the low guaranteed of Smith.
Cavs basically do it for a vet 3/4 that can stretch the floor and take a flyer on Macura.

-----------------
The other one is less likely but works.
Smith and Korver to NO. Dec.16th for
2 years of overpaid Solomon Hill, 2 expiring contract players in wes johnson and Darius Miller, and compensation in Frank Jackson.
