Let's get a TRUE off-season thread going guys.

My votes on YES. His whole thing has been about bringing one home to Cleveland. I think he'd like the opportunity to 'grab the bull by its horns' and take the reins of his hometown. He could be the first Nike-sponsored politician.

I don't think he would want to be tied to all of the responsibility that comes along with, meetings and showings and all that jazz.

With all of the money he has he can do a lot for Akron, and Ohio in general without being Mayor. Like paying for over a 1000 people to go college with his foundation.

That's all fine and dandy that people like him, but he has absolutely no quaifications for the job.

Come on people.

What do you define as qualifications? I mean Trump has no political background and he is relatively close to becoming the President.

I'm not saying I'm a Trump supporter or not, but he has an impressive educational background and buisness background. Lebron didn't even go to colledge, and the only way he has distinguished himself is through sports.

Who knows? He's already a billionaire, so it'll be interested to see what he decides to pursue after his playing career. I think he'll try to get an ownership role with the Cavs.

He's got the best interest for his hometown at heart and 1000x more connections and resources than any other candidate could possibly have. That would be enough for me.

Interesting you feel connections and reasources should get you elected into public office.

Running a business is nothing like running a country, that is a misconception. You would also have to critique how well Trump ran a business anyway.

Trump has a bachelors degree, that is not "impressive" - even if he got it from an Ivy league (that seldom means you should be the President of the United States, most of my friends have at least that if not more). Donald Trump isn't a technocrat.

If you're talking qualifications, then either prior political experience or a master of a relevant field (engineering, science, economics - ie a technocrat) would only make sense when referencing a political office.

There have been plenty of mayors who didn't go the traditional route to gaining office, heck, Kevin Johnson was a mayor.

I actually could see him really get into acting when he is done playing basketball.

Other than that, I think some appearances as a commentator but mostly a fan on his kids who will undoubtedly be making some noise in the basketball world.

Most people would believe running a multibillion dollar, multinational corporation is certainly a qualification. Of course running a buisness is different from running a country. That has become a silly talking point. The only position that is simular to the office of POTUS is governor. Following your logic, unless a candate has the executive position of governor on his/her resume they have no qualifications. I personally don't want someone in executive office if they have never met a payroll.I think you are a little confused. Presidents aren't not technocrats, nor are they supposed to be, most of the job is making decisions based on the advice of other people. Scott Walker beat a recall election, took on the unions and one and he didn't go far partly because he didn't have a college degree. I loath career politicans, snd I'm not saying because Lebron has no political experiance he should be disqualified from the office of mayor. What I am saying is he has no experiance otherwise which would qualify him for such position. You have listed any of his qualifications, have you?
