Korver not exctly a blue light special but a good signing imo. I wonder if this means the Shump to Houston talk is about to happen.

Certainly a better more reasonable contract than Shumpert's, JR's, and TT's. If Shumpert gets traded to Houston, which I am glad they are trying to move him, the Cavs need to try to get Ariza back in return.

Who should we target with the MLE?
Rumors of Randolph, which would be awesome, but he could easily get more money elsewhere so I'm not counting on it

I heard the Randolph rumors but he is 35 years old. I think the Cavs should target Terrance Jones, Tyreke Evans, Robert Covington, or Roy Hibbert with the MLE. I didn't care for the Jose Calderon 2.3 million signing 35 y/o not much left in the tank. Could have had Michael Carter-Williams for 2.7 million. Ty Lawson and Rando are still on the market.

I would be looking for some length on the wings, 3 and D types if possible.

Cavs are seriously talking to Zbo. Don't ask me why.

Luc Mbah A Moute is who we should target. Just hit me.
He might get more elsewhere, but the MLE would still be an increase in salary for him...and he could guard KD

He's still pretty good. I kind of like the move, although I would rather spend our money to combat the Warriors.
Zbo would make us pretty damn good in the regular season though.

I think the Shumpert to Rockets rumor is dead...what do you think?
It would have made more sense before the CP3 trade where the Cavs would have gotten Beverley (a target of Cavs last season) and a couple non guaranteed's to help reduce the tax burden, but Trading Shumpert now seems like it won't happen until the deadline which means you won't get much out of him as a player, as he is likely to be disgruntled in the first half of the season about that inevitability of him being moved, and you won't get much back for him, as a result.
I still think Shumpert's defense although not as good as a reserve for Smith as when Shumpert started, is still a need that must be replaced if he is moved. He was knocking down tre's and making mid range jumpers at a decent clip when he got more minutes as well and started to look like a solid 2-way player.
I am surprised at how much he is unappreciated by the Cavs fan base. I don't think that Korver and Felder (and now Calderon) are nearly enough depth in the playoffs behind Irving and Smith.

Yeah the rumor was that we were going to get a TPE and draft compensation with eye towards adding someone else. But in order for it to be worth it, we'd have to get a player better than Shump with the package. I feel like a team struggling with youth, defense, & athleticism probably shouldn't be trading Shump.

I would have liked Zbo 3 years ago or better. He just signed a $24 million 2 year deal with the Kings. Cavs dodged a bullet. The Cavs need to get younger, more length and athleticism not more players in their mid 30's. They seriously need to look at Robert Covington and Terrance Jones. Rondo would have been good but they elected for Calderon the opposite of what they need if they want to match up against the Warriors. The Warriors are looking at Nick Young and the Cavs are looking at players who are old and can barely move, similar to the ones they had last season: Frye, RJ, James Jones, Korver, Deron Williams, Birdman, & Dunleavy.

Calderon couldn't guard his shadow, terrible.
No other team was going to sign him or even give him a phone call.

He's this year's Dunleavy iMO. A guy the Cavs have liked for a long time who just doesn't have it anymore. He's on a minimum deal. I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't finish the season.

If Dan Gilbert trades away Cedi Osman, he will have officially lost his mind. Osman might end up being better than Gordon Hayward.
The Cavs should not trade for Melo. Houston doesn't have the assets to get him after the CP trade. There are no other teams interested in trading for Melo. Since there are no trade partners with the Knicks, it will put the pressure on the Knicks and they will be forced to buy Melo out.

Worth mentioning champ is not coming back. Seemed like a class guy, but dead weight on the roster. Frees up a bit of money but not enough on its own to get under the cap.
I was hoping to get a better look at Derrick Williams but I think he will be playing elsewhere next season due to Lue not trusting him enough to play him any meaningful minutes in the finals.

I wanted to see Derrick Williams get more minutes. Young and athletic but Lue and LBJ don't trust guys like that. He should have been getting all of RJ and Shumpert's minutes.
On another note the Cavs are looking at Haslem and Crawford, both 35 years old plus. If the Cavs sign these old guys then the whole front office needs to be fired. What are the Cavs thinking every move they make should be to match up with the Warriors. Michael Carter-Williams would have been a much better matchup against Shawn Livingston but Calderon. I am very frustrated in the direction the Cavs are going.
