Moderator: ijspeelman

Should the Cavs trade fro Butler? Can they offer enough to get him without selling the farm?

Butler supposedly a target of Cav's

Post#1 » by Stillwater » Mon Sep 24, 2018 8:56 pm

so I am curious if anyone thinks the Cavs actually are targeting Butler...personally don't think Cav's have enough without giving up key players they shouldn't give up, so the only question is what will the Cavs give up if they really want him on the roster?
choose 2 options that seem reasonable to you

Aren't the Cavs looking to rebuild?

I don't think they are...I mean they are retooling until more contracts fall off and maybe then they go full rebuild. My guess is they would trade for Butler if the price is right, but would likely not offer enough of their younger core for Minny to bite.

As long as we don't give up too much, I wouldn't mind giving it a shot. Being more competitive is always a good thing. If we had Butler, I imagine we'd have a good shot at 4th seed, maybe 3rd?

Cavs have no shot, just doing due diligence I would think. Even if he was interested and wanted to sign I think it would doom us to a few years of mediocrity. It would be the early kemp years all over again.

Yeah overall I don't think the Cavs really have much interest in getting Butler, but more likely have interest in facilitating a trade
and it could be they still have interest in Whiteside.
I personally hope that's not the case, but it could be.
Cavs could be looking to facilitate a deal with Miami and Minnesota sending Butler to SB with DIeng and filler :KBD ?.
Whiteside & WInslow to CLE.
TT,J.R. & Richardson to the Wolves.
Wolves get Miami's 2019 first unprotected & Cavs rights to 2024 2nd from Miami.
Miami gets the rights to their 2019 2nd rounder back from the Wolves.
Cavs get swap rights on Miami's 2020 first and Wolves 2021 2nd top 35 protected.
or something like that...

Yeah, it was more of a hypothetical. Didn't Kyrie tell Jimmy not to come here last year? Would've been an interesting year if we had Kyrie, Jimmy, LeBron, and Kevin. Could've really competed with the Warriors I believe.
