draft day trade block

Post#1 » by Stillwater » Sun Jun 2, 2019 8:45 pm

I think there is a couple of scenarios where Love or Thompson could be moved but overall think Smith remains likely the only player we trade on draft day.
I do think there is a possibility they will move Cedi for a pick as well

Tough to say who’s most likely... I voted Henson because he has a smaller contract than TT and Love, thus making him easier to move. I think we need to get rid of a center to get a wing or combo forward.

Henson is a quality backup rim protector, and maybe someone will trick themselves into believing in his 3pt percentage from last year. Heck, it very well could be a legit part of his game now. I think a contender could find a use for him, and if he doesn’t work out, they’ll have a ~$11mil expiring contract to try to flip.

I would've voted no one. I think TT, Henson, and/or Clarkson are all trade candidates after F.A.

I voted Clarkson due to value of what he brings compared to his contract. I dont think it will happen though. I dont see Nance or Sexton. Henson, I dont know, I think he has value to this team more for his expiring contract, and if dealt I would think it would be at the trade deadline.
Same for TT, though I wouldnt be shocked if he were moved. I think Love has negative value to other teams due to his contract and health. I do think there is a good possibility that Smith is moved for a mid-teens to mid-twenties pick this season or if not before the draft this season then maybe a protected first next season if traded by July 1st.

no way Cavs let Smiths guarantee kick in/ he will either be traded before July 1st or waived and paid his partial.
Clarkson is seen as a high value asset to this roster going forward , he's still young and had a very productive season...to move him the return would have to be late lottery for them to consider it imo, and even then I think they pass unless somebody with a higher ceiling is on the board which is doubtful.
Clarkson was one of the best 6th man's in the NBA last season and will likely be held onto and is seen as a core piece

I agree that Smith will be traded or cut by July 1st. As for Clarkson I see his value being higher to other teams than anyone else on the roster that the team would possibly be willing to move. Not that the team is necessarily looking to move him, but if they are looking to move up in the draft or are desperate to stay under the tax line I could see it as long as there is a decent to good asset attached.

I think there's a lot of posturing going on with Love by other teams. PF is a thin position in the NBA. I think his injury history depresses what other teams want to offer for him, but $30M per ins't outrageous at all for 17ppg and 11rpg on .561 TS%. Those are last year's numbers, which people are claiming evidences a decline. Most teams would kill for that production and offensive versatility out of the PF position.

I don't think he gets traded because the Cavs feel no pressure to trade him and other teams will continue to want to buy low on him.
