Longabardi

Post#1 » by substancej » Sun Jun 23, 2019 2:21 pm

Ever since the team picked up Longabardi, the team's defense has been atrocious, no matter who is on the team. Is he the problem? I'm actually surprised he still has a role with the team during the rebuild.

It's not the coaching. Nance and TT are the only decent front court defenders on the roster and neither is a shot blocker. Cedi and Nwaba are the only wings who even play defense at replacement player level. The Cavs can't play those 4 together for obvious reasons. It's hard to get good two way players which is why the Hawks jumped us for Hunter.

It is highly unlikely that the Cavs will agree with your Kevin Love evaluation for the purpose of a trade.

Why does he keep getting fired?

And if it's legit reasons, why does he keep getting hired?

I was curious what specifically got him hired with the Cavs in the first place, as I think he had bounced around a bit just before that.

The front office clearly has no intention of adding 2-way players and covet offensive specialists proven again by their draft choices.
I think they absolutely should be going after Okeke(taken 16th) from Orlando for eating Mozzy. There are other teams that could still be interested in J.R.'s deal before FA starts as well that may offer some sort of defensive first 2 way guard like Khyri Thomas who is not being utilized well in Detroit but has fringe starter skill as is.

I love the idea that certain players will become good defenders with different coaching. How many coaches have guys like Kyrie, Lavine, Parker, Hood, Lamb, and Wiggins had? They just don't care. They can get their money by getting buckets. The league hasn't helped with how the game is officiated either.

I was legit asking cus I don't know.

I figured there were a lot of NBA minds to choose from that didn't just get fired or let go in two different places (or more?).

So there must be something about Longabardi that front offices like. I should probably just google the guy and check his history. But the short stops at different places is sometimes a red flag on a resume, is why I asked.

Sometimes good traits get your fired too, when the front office is a mess, and you won't play their games.

Personality wise, I like his energy in interviews, and level of engagement with the players.
