Needed: Cavs Wing/Forward finishers

Just watched some more Kevin Porter Jr highlights I hadn't seen before (Team USA) and something is sticking out to me.

Cavs need wings and forwards who are high level finishers!

Roster doesn't have too many guys who can fly up the court and flank our guards and KPJ, and receive a pass for a strong finish. Including above the rim finishes an oops.

I know, Scottie Pippen's not walking through that door. But this need will become more glaring a the season goes forward.

Sexton is strong pushing the ball up the middle of the floor. When he wants to push it, who's running with him? Not Love, not Zizic, not a lot of guys on this roster that are athletic enough to hang with our guards and then get the job done on the high percentage finish.

Garland might be leading those breaks sometimes, but when not, with his shooting, he might make more sense as a trailer or cross court option if the quick finish isn't there.

KPJ is looking like a fantastic creator. One thing I didn't see as much in his college highlights that I'm seeing now is he has some great last second dishes after he breaks down the defense. That would extend to on the break as well. He's naturally creating space and then dishing to wide open guys close to the basket. We need to take advantage of this!

Nance seems like a good fit for a center. But that's not nearly enough. 3's and 4's who can keep up with our young backcourt and catch and finish is going to make a lot of sense for this Cavs team!

I see Cedi can get out pretty quick. And he's a decent finisher. I'd be inclined to run him out there a little more that some of our other guys. But he's not what I'd call a high level finisher at this point. Tristan moves pretty well for a man his size, but there is a lot of limit to his transition game as well. Hard to imagine him running, catching, taking one or two dribbles, then dunking. Maybe without the dribbles. He's limited too in this area. We could use some more Worthy like finishers, maybe not hall of fame, but quick, fast, smart, and solid with high percentage conversions.

Our glut of guards and anyone who doesn't fit the Cavs plans moving forward, I'm hoping we get some guys back that are as described above. Guys of that type of athleticism are also often good defenders too (long and mobile). That is not what the Cavs have right now.

Come on Cavs let get this done!

nah, LeBron would never let another guy run the break or do the creating. I have a different type of player in mind. An off the ball role player finisher.

Think Jerami Grant type attributes.

Cavs had Marquise Chriss and let him go...

Agreed Cavs probably need to add 2 long athletic types esp if they are going to stick with the Sexland backcourt.

OMG that's a nickname... as long as they don't take that nickname too seriously off the court and get distracted. Also I think that is what next year's FA and draft will be focused on. Getting more length/defense from the 3-5 positions.

Ironically I just caught up on yesterday's Cavs Kings summer league game, and JaCorey Williams happens to be doing lot of these things.

I'd rather have established pros doing it, but if there's no plans to bring guys in this season to see what these type of players look like with the Cavs guards, maybe a mid-season call up could help us take a look at the idea.

Not saying Williams is ready now or ever will be. I'd like to see our guards get established in their roles first for a few months. But a nice bonus to have him around in Canton if we don't bring any other guys in to do that job later in the season.

If we could go for a more established guy, I'm a Miles Bridges guy. Maybe not as long as I had in mind but does those things well. But don't see that current Charlotte team letting him go for anything we have.

There's a reason we wanted Hunter and traded for Nance. There's also a reason we haven't traded Love. If you don't a PF on the roster who can do that, having one who can grab the defensive rebound and make that outlet pass is the next best thing. But the players you're describing are hard to come by.

I'd like to see CLE take a flier on one of these 2 swingman types either Isaia Cordinier or Daquan Jeffries neither of which are locked up for Nets or Magic yet and both provide strong slashing skills

Sexton's finishing is pretty good and I think KPJ will be fine as well. In my opinion, Nance's finishing needs a lot of work. A lot of the time he goes up for a monster dunk and loses the ball... but when he does finish it's incredible.
