Would you guys be in favor of CJ McCollum for Kevin Love straight up?

No thanks. Sexton has been playing at arguably the same or higher level than CJ, is younger, and much cheaper, not to mention trading Love creates a massive hole in our line-up at PF.

I wouldn't. McCullum is year older than Love and has a bigger contract. Fit is also an issue. It would have to be a three team deal.

The last thing this team needs is another undersized scoring guard so it would have to be a 3 way deal.
With that said I doubt Love is traded. The Cavs have to pay somebody so it might as well be Kevin. He's also good to have around for the development of the young guys.

no interest is a bit harsh but i cant see portland robbing peter to pay paul...they need cj despite his slow start. what they need yo do is trade whiteside ,nas little ,moses brown and their 21 first for Love ,or they need to tank

Wha? CJ is 28 and played 4 years in College should have plenty of mileage left.

On the surface, it seems like a buy-low opportunity at the moment because CJ hasn't been shooting very well so far this season and Kevin is off to a hot-start.

CJ is from Canton and Love is from Portland ... it would had been great if we'd been able to swing a deal while LeBron was still here ... but now?

The main problem as you point out is fit. We'd still have a tiny backcourt with CJ and it's not clear it would be worth bumping Garland or Sexton aside for him when he doesn't fit their timeline.

I like what I've seen from Dean Wade, but it would take some strong prescription wine and gold covered glasses to believe he can step-in for Kevin and keep our offense humming.

So, I don't think it's a win now move for the Cavs - it would more likely disrupt what they're doing, and if a 3rd team didn't end up with CJ, why would the Cavs do it? It would have to be about what else Portland could throw in, our how we evaluated CJ's future value .vs. Kevin's.

Unless Kevin wants to go home, and if that was the case, CJ would be a nice asset to play with to get that done.

Anyway, I'd be a lot more excited if this was an actual rumor and not a question by a fan because a lot of people seemed to believe we'd be lucky just to get some team to take the rest of Kevin's contract off our hands. Unless CJ has suddenly fallen off a cliff, I think he's perceived as a positive asset around the league even with his big deal - and if we do trade Kevin - I want good value not a salary dump.

The Cavs would be lucky to get someone to take the rest of Love's contract off their hands was always an inane position. Would you rather have one K. Love or two of the Knicks power forwards? Would you rather have Kevin Love or $30M in cap relief? The Cavs will not get better value with that space than what Kevin gives them, as would be the case with most teams in the NBA. Do the Blazers want to watch Bazemore and Whiteside walk this summer in order to have $20M to spend on six roster spots this summer, or would they prefer Kevin Love?

It's not my way of thinking, but I imagine they'd argue you trade Kevin for cap space, then you use the cap space to trade for bad contracts to acquire more picks. You then use those picks either via the draft/trade to add young talent all while tanking to improve our own draft picks.

We'll get a clearer idea what Koby and gang are all about in another month or two.

The fit isn’t there anymore. As much as we love CJ in Ohio; and the value is fair, Sexton, Garland, & Porter are the direction for the Cavs.

Plus, we kind of like this Kevin Love chap...
