Young and hungry is likely a bigger threat to us than old and bored.

And not just with odds related, but one of those games that could dictate managements decision for the rest of this season. A win and they could want to continue and try and sneak into the play ins for a playoff spot, or a loss against this Pistons team could make them think “wow we really do suck, let’s just tank the rest of the season.” And let Sexton, Garland, Nance, and Allen rest a lot more as this this season comes to an end.

It's hard to say how much patience a Dan Gilbert run organization is going to have. If the roster doesn't start to come together by the end of the season, we might see heads start to role. So, Koby Altman and JBB will need to feel a lot more secure in their jobs before they start telling players to take some games off.
Garland was running so many high P&R's at the end of the game, you could almost see the gears grinding in his head as he kept driving in to crowds and tossing up floaters. Maybe if his 3pt shot had been falling, he could have broken that up some? If a defender clearly committed to help, then he'd pass, but they basically let the game came down to Garland's ability to knock down floaters over length which is make-able for him but far from an ideal shot. On the other end of the floor JBB let Hayes drive on Garland over and over, and unlike the Pistons we weren't able to wall off the paint. Eventually we brought in Okoro and put him on Hayes and swapped Allen for Hartenstein. And then there's Kevin Love who only had one (hard) shot attempt in 3 minutes at the end of the game.
No doubt rust and lack of practice time are still factors and while everyone is still playing hard, we're just not seeing the roots of an offense or a defense that's going to carry the Cavs anywhere. So to prove the problems are primarily the former, and not so much the roster construction (Altman) and coaching (JBB) the team really needs to show some progress by the end of the season. They need to go beyond playing hard and show they can play together and have each other's backs on the floor.
I'm not expecting them to beat good teams, but some of the team's we've been facing are just as young and have less experience and continuity playing together. If we can't out think out execute those teams, then how can we say we're making progress?
And if Dan Gilbert doesn't think he's seeing progress, people are going to be axed. At least pre-stroke ... (maybe he has the patience of Solomon these days ...)
