I'm good with this pick. Griffin would've been tempting, but his shoot selection could be Oubreesque at times.

I'll have to see how the other 3 picks play out but so far, so good.

We drafted a SG who can't play any other position and can't create his shot and 2 bigs. This was a truly awful draft from Altman.

We needed a backup C. I know nothing about Diop, I'll have to watch some tape on him.

But I have no idea why we went and bought a mid 2nd just to take Isaiah Mobley with it. That totally could have been a UDFA deal.

I can dig Agbaji. Kid plays defense, is athletic enough, has shown continuous improvement to earn his way at KS.

Diop is a flier. I don’t quite get the allure but, admittedly, I know l little about him. I was hoping for Kendall Brown here.

Mobley. I like him both as a culture assist and think he could be a Dean Wade sort of player.

Travers. Replaces the rights traded away for the pick used on Mobley. That’s something.

I think they should have been more aggressive in the 2nd round. 4 picks and you get a rotation guy and 3 Charge players.

Agbaji, I like it, hopefully he can start. I really wanted Branham here but I understand going with the 4 year guy who projects as the better defender. Grade: B

Diop, this is where I think the draft went sideways. I wanted to trade up to 31 and get Nembhard outta Gonzaga here. I'm not sure if he even comes over next season, if he does, probably a 2 way player. Grade: D

i.Mobley, like I said in the other thread, sentimentally, I get it and I think its a cool gesture by the front office. As far as talent though, I'm not sure he was even on any draft boards. His ability to stretch the floor is nice but he coulda been picked up as a UDFA. If Diop doesn't come over, this pick makes more sense. Grade: F

Travers, this guy will never come over. I think Sir Dominic Porter has a better shot at seeing minutes before this guy. I can't grade just draft rights. Grade: -

With you on Kendall Brown. Good with Agbaji, I think he gets downgraded just due to being a senior, as if every 19 year old pans out.
Admittedly don't know much about Diop, probably a stash guy. Some analysts liked Mobley a bit maybe he is better than Moses Brown?
The kid from Australia? Never even heard of him... anywhere, but at 56 I was seeing Lofton Jr. available and was thinking why not him?

Travers will play summer league with you's, problem is that he lost his shooting touch this year. Otherwise he's solid defensively with an ok feel for the game. His handle can be a little loose at times.

I have the two foreign players as stash guys. I think Diop could retain value as a trade asset downstream. The Australian kid is a complete flier. Mobley is, at best, a two-way guy who uses up the 15th roster spot. It gets dicey if you have to cut him, but hopefully that conversation already occurred.

The Cavs are clearly done with the developmental, unearned minutes, part of the rebuild. They're plenty young so I get it.

I guess Griffin had knee issues which scared teams off.

I would have preferred Griffin but I'm sure they had their reasoning. Don't really know anything about either foreign guy. Mobley was a pretty obvious pick and I'm fine with him as our 15th guy.

he's a raw, athletic beast. Like a more mobile version of the previous Diop. Never hurts to give one of those a try

In my humble opinion, it seems like an investment in Evan. Keep him happy, give him support on and off the court. Make sure he sees how far you're willing to go for him. Seems like the Cavs feel he's worth the little $$$ it cost to buy that pick.

Meh I think the Cavs should've drafted someone with a little higher ceiling. They didn't need to grab the guy who is almost a finished product per Altman. Ochai can shoot a little bit and has a pretty good wingspan to defend wings. He's definitely not one to put the ball on the floor. He's not a playmaker. Giving minutes to him over someone like Cedi is an upgrade. Not a fan of what they did in the 2nd round although the Mobley pick was obviously a favor to Evan.

I think that partly reflects partly where they are in the process. I remember 2013 and passing on Oladipo because he was a Jr and didn’t have the upside commensurate with the pick. We went boom (Larry Johnson) bust (Anthony Bennett).

And I get wanting to take the fence swing. It’s hopefully the highest this team picks for a while. But, I also watch teams like the pacers consistently find good value here by taking the non-fence swing guys. And sometimes, you land a Danny Granger. But a Chris Duarte would be solid too.

Great. We already have starting 2 and 3 who cannot create their own shot. It was pretty evident that when Garland was/is doubled this team falls apart. You had other options on the board on guys who can shoot and create - I was high on Branham. This pick should indicate that Sexton is coming back. I think Levert is trash so I would move him and perhaps it means that Osman gets moved.

C+ is my grade.

The thing about Cedi is that he can do things off the bounce at the NBA level. It's not all good, but he was our emergency PG this year and could get the team running and make things happen-- not always good things, but things nonetheless.

Agbaji seems like the ideal of what we expect out of Okoro-- but Okoro is the younger player and his shooting percentages by age aren't all that far off of what Agbaji did in college, particularly if you adjust for the NBA 3-point line. Agbaji has some movement to his shooting but he is even less of a ballhandler and a much worse passer than Okoro.

What I do know is that it gives us 3 and possibly 4 SGs, and that's only if you consider Cedi/Stevens/Windler as exclusively SFs, and in theory we want to add a PG that can play some minutes with Garland too?

I hope the plan is to package 2-4 of our wings for an upgrade.

Hey all. Travers was a guy I kinda hoped we might throw a Summer League invite to as an UDFA.
Surprised he was picked in the draft proper, but he's got some interesting bits to his game. He's pretty Swiss Army knife, playing anywhere between the 1 and the 4 over here at times.

His shot wasn't great, but it was okay in Juniors, so perhaps he'll rediscover it. But otherwise you could see his versatility as a good thing (I tend to) or a function of him being a jack of all trades, master of none.

You could do worse than leave him in the NBL for another year and see how he goes. He plays for one of the stronger programs here, and the coaching, etc, is pretty decent.
