lol, I'll take whatever he's got to give, and this is our first chance to see what that might be as he competes against the next step up over NCAA.

What we might not get to see is Agbaji in motion ... which takes a little more planning than Summer league usually permits, but it's TBD if JBB will try to use him that way.

His shot looks good, but would like to see him do something in an area we're not expecting - like rebounding, blocks, steals, passing, driving, etc. He's a featured player in Summer league, so there should be no scheme holding him back from trying things.

RJ Nembhard played well and he's starting to make a claim to steal some minutes from Neto.

Sylla had a nice game. Too bad we've only got the 2 two-way contracts or he could be another developmental big.

Mobley showed some of what he can do but didn't have much success. Perhaps feeling the bright lights playing in front of his brother? He did have 8 rebounds and 3 assists which the coaches will like.

Travers as we heard was hustling all over and finished with 4 blocks, but certainly nothing at this point to change plans over.

Gotta keep in mind our intended starting lineup only managed to play 66 minutes together, and the one that replaced it when Sexton went down only played 221.

I'm also hoping Ricky comes over ASAP because his experience is invaluable. Walton was a decent passer as a player and certainly saw first hand how the Warrior's operated, but Ricky's in another stratosphere as a PG.

Thanks for the share. Part of why I like the Allen, Mobley, Love, Markkanen, Okoro, Osman, Garland, Rubio crew; also why LeVert and Sexton concern me.

Technically speaking JBB isn't an "old dog" even if he has some old school ways mixed in with some new school, but I yeah I wouldn't assume Walton is simply handed the reigns to the offense and allowed to do whatever he wants. Presumably the staff will be able to offer ideas and JBB will sort through them and decide what he wants to try and who on the staff will do what.

And while I imagine Walton isn't the only assistant on the staff who can help the players understand how to use ghost screens - being a former player and working under Kerr should help him get buy-in and interest from the players.

Perhaps, but in need of work, friend of JBB, and willing to work on a staff where everyone can contribute might had been enough to get him on-board.

Agbaji had another good game, and Travers will eventually play in the NBA if he can develop a jump shot, but the rest of our Summer League team should start working on their backup plans.

I'm not eating crow on Agbaji's year 1 yet, but I am looking up recipes.

What is nice, from what I have seen, Agbaji and the Cav's summer league offense are not making him do too much. They are giving him the looks he should be expecting in the NBA and those looks look good and fluid. He is also unafraid to shoot them in motion and drill them. This is still easier defensive competition than what he will expect in the NBA, but most of these looks should be there for him day one.

I tried to gauge defense the first game, but gave up quickly because the sets and competition don't translate well to what he will see in the NBA. I did see some odd off-ball defensive choices by him (losing his man by ball-watching, odd switches, etc.), but I don't want to lament on those mistakes too much because they could easily be boiled down to summer league coaching and lack of team chemistry.
