Think I'm rendering my final verdict on LeVert as a starter. The offense is just too clunky.

I still don't have a final verdict. There's a lot of growth and chemistry needed in the backcourt and it doesn't look like we have it yet.

I want to see more off-ball actions by all three when one of the others has the ball. That will be on JB to figure out.

Cedi and LeVert out there wildin tonight. Love and Garland barely touching the ball as the other two are having a turnover contest.

A lot of plays down the stretch with very little off-ball movement. Basically a PNR and then if it didn't work, try another. Was a pretty gross showing defensively though I can't point my figure at any one thing.

LeVert took 18 shots and had 5 turnovers. That usage is just way too high on a team with this much talent. Also, it's becoming increasingly clear that opposing teams are very happy with LeVert trying to beat them. It's time for Wade to start.

What the heck happened to Garland last night?

Mitchell took 28 shots. LeVert took 18. They had 8 turnovers between them. That's 54 of the Cavs possessions.

Garland only had 9 shots to go with 8 assists. Allen had 11. Mobley had 10. Wade and Love combined for six shot attempts.

Our usage and team offense is getting way off kilter.

This is the team's first test facing adversity. Lets see how they face it.

I don't have many takes about the game yesterday. Keegan Murray was a sniper yesterday. We left him open for a C&S a few times, but he also made a few with a hand in his face. Same goes for Trey Lyles.

I do think there is a possibility JB's defense scheme involves too much helping. There will be times where an offensive players gets the defender on their hip and two players are helping from the weakside in the paint rather than one of Mobley or Allen helping and the other zoning up their two offensive guys. Its creating a lot of open looks for the other team.

Garland only made 1 of the 9, though; last season we may have had no choice but to see if he could shoot his way out of it, but he and Isaac have had the biggest drop-offs from last season.

At least JBB found Garland and Mitchell some minutes of rest in the second half, but it didn't help them close out the game. So, presumably there are other issues to work-out.

I'd call it likely that playing Dean instead of Caris would put everyone in more comfortable roles, but that doesn't mean they can't work things out given more time. We shall see.

Yeah, no way Garland should be the 5th lowest shot taker, even if he's struggling.

I kinda thought this would be a loss.

Post-game Mitchell said Garland was under the weather yesterday. Add that to the knee and the eye and the result from him wasn't surprising.

The guy struggles to stay on the court, that's for sure.

Can't blame him for getting poked in the eye and there are a lot of players around the league struggling to stay on the floor. He's not afraid to play at less than 100%, but there is a cost.

We should still be able to win games with what we've got.

We should, I probably would've preferred to sit him if he was sick and his knee/eye are still bothering him.
