No Mitchell, Allen, or Wade tonight. This one might get ugly.

Mitchell, Allen, Wade sitting out of this one.
Looks like heavy doses of Love, Lopez, Stevens, and probably see decent doses of Okoro, Neto too.

I'm surprised by Stevens > Okoro in the starting lineup since Okoro has gotten minutes off the bench and Stevens hasn't.

Re: Game 13: Timberwolves @ Cavs 11/13/2022
Diakite in before Okoro is kinda wild.
It is currently 40-20 in favor of the TWolves and I personally don't think our defense has been bad. D'Lo has made a lot of pull-up threes and tough middies. We dropped on one or two of his PNRs with Gobert/KAT and he made both pull-up threes then he just started self-generating them and draining them.
We got some open threes, but just are not hitting them. Because of that Love's minutes looked real bad because he's not fit to guard the wings or the bigs. He is also over-helping leaving his man open.

Even a broken clock is right twice a day. Kidding, hopefully he can find his stroke, help him get more minutes in the rotation.ijspeelman wrote:Okoro made a three alert

Re: Game 13: Timberwolves @ Cavs 11/13/2022
Why're we giving Mobley the ball at the high elbow and asking him to go one-on-one with the other 4 players standing still?
Not saying he cannot generate a basket, but they should give him more options with players cutting and/or running something on the weakside.

I appreciate the come back, but glad to not be watching this game anymore. Went from watching incredibly ugly Cavs basketball for 3 quarters to heart racing in the fourth.
Congrats to Garland getting 50.

There were multiple times in the first three quarters when the Wolves had four or five defenders in the paint. People will say the Cavs weren't running an offense, but it's nearly impossible to do so when you're being defended like that.
Our only true bench shooter is Love (Wade should start).

Jarret Allen isn’t winning you anything. Garland won’t show up in the playoffs. Mobley is a glorified dunk man. Mitchell has some experience but is a liability on defense. To me, the Cavs are a treadmill team.

Forgot about Cedi who's shooting 38% on 6.5 attempts per 36, and LeVert is shooting over 40% from three this year on almost 5 attempts per 36 if you're pushing him to the bench. We're 12th in made threes per game despite being 26th in the league in pace. (All stats before you count tonight's game.)
The issue tonight was almost exclusively our defense, Russell and Towns were 22/29 combined.

Re: Game 13: Timberwolves @ Cavs 11/13/2022
We may be on a four game losing streak, but this comeback we had is incredibly encouraging, especially the performance from Garland. I won't even be mad if we lose to Milwaukee on Wednesday even with our starters back (even though I wouldn't be surprised if we won either, since we do have some matchup advantages).
Now... if we lose to Charlotte after that? It's time for us to hit the panic button.

No it's not lol the team would still be above .500 and it's not even Thanksgiving yet.TheLand13 wrote:We may be on a four game losing streak, but this comeback we had is incredibly encouraging, especially the performance from Garland. What changed? Garland being unstoppable or the TWolves putting it in cruise control, because the only thing our finishing line-up had going for it was some toughness and energy from guys who JBB hasn't used much. Certainly not spacing.
Hopefully this showing gets DG rolling, but still want to see it with Mitchell in the lineup and without the desperation of being down 24 and playing with guys who struggle to crack JBB's rotation.

There was a crazy 5 minute period we used Raul Neto at the end of the first quarter and the team was -17 during the stretch - pretty much when the game was put out of reach.

In the fourth, we were attacking the Gobert drop coverage on PNRs and Garland was hitting his pull-up threes. Not really something we were doing consistently in the first three quarters.
Then they were forced to start stepping up and Garland was getting by. We played good defense, but also got lucky with FT misses and some bad mistakes by the TWolves.

Funny, JBB could have gotten there if the only thing on his mind was protecting his future franchise player and started a C next to him. I suppose it would have worked out better if Kevin didn't start off the game 0-6.
