Not too happy with how we’ve been playing, hopefully we come out better in the second half.

A lot of open shots being missed on our end

Shot 19% on three and felt like Mavs were making every contested shot.
Cavs win.
Cavs win.

Those were some tired legs out there. Good to get the W regardless.

The real test is going to be these next four games.
Utah/Bucks/Raptors/Nets. All tough opponents. As I said before, if we come out of that 3-1, I’ll be thrilled.

Mavs down 3 starters, Kemba turned back the clock. Glad Cavs secured the win though!

Re: Game 31: Mavs @ Cavs 12/17/2022
Just looked over some key stats for the game just because, like the Spurs game, this shouldn’t have been close imo.
Cavs generated 20 wide open threes and shot 25% on them. Mavericks generated 16 wide open threes and shot 31.3%.
We forced Mavs into 10 tightly contested threes where they shot 20% and we only shot one (which was not made).
On three point shots where the defender was 4-6 feet away (classified as open), the Mavericks had 23 and shot 34.8%. The Cavs had 14 and shot 14.4%.
Our three point efficiency has fallen off a cliff and it’s beginning to not make sense, we have players like Garland Mitchell shooting 1/8 and 1/9 on open or wide open attempts and Cedi and LeVert hitting none. It’s not like we are shooting contested threes. I guess it’s just our swing back from the super hot shooting to start the season.
Though, even with our spacers missing, we still have a hole at the three when Wade is out imo. If Mitchell or Garland have the ball when the starting lineup is out there, the only reliable spacer is Mitchell and Garland. The other three players, the opponent is content with them shooting.

Last night you could tell it was tired legs. Everyone was shooting short.

Re: Game 31: Mavs @ Cavs 12/17/2022
I was a little enthused that Love shot 3 for 9 from 3pt - just hoping it's a sign he's adjusting to the thumb.
One thing to look for when grading our 3pt shooting is whether the ball was moving before the shot and if the shot was in rhythm. It feels like our roll the ball up the floor and run the clock down approach takes a toll - even if we do end up with an open shot.
But not on the 2nd night of a back to back as JBB continues to pile on the minutes - just glad we got the win.
