Solid start, but need to be able to put these teams away early!

I went to a "Browns bar" in Cincy but they don't have the Cavs game on

Starting off with a props to the Nets. I love the style in which these guys play. Constant pressure for the entire 48 minutes, including in the backcourt. I'll throw one dig in, but it worked to their benefit tonight: they are overly physical on defense and probs should have been called for a fair amount more fouls.

Garland remains on fire in clutch time (and from three). He hasn't made a wrong decision when the game is in the balance.

JA had an extremely off night. If you didn't watch the game, go look at his FGA's on nba.com when you can. Some really easy shots that just kept being a little short.

Mitchell also had a bit of an off night even for going 4/6 from deep. Just couldn't really get anything going downhill. Still love Mitchell not getting in the way of Garland closing out the game. I do wish we could get both of them going at the same time for some good synergy, but it hasn't been needed yet.

Mobley was everywhere on both ends of the floor. The amount times he's attacking off the dribble and it succeeding remains high. Loving it.

Cavs started really hot and then got really cold around half way thru the 2nd. During patches, they were getting really good shots they just couldn't make. This made Kenny put some weird, but effective line-ups in the 4th. Since JA was really off, he elected to close with Garland, Mitchell, Jerome, LeVert, and Mobley. It provided the switchability we needed to check Cam Thomas and Schroeder with the rim protection from Mobley. Also shoutout the Garland, Merrill, Jerome, Niang, Wade line-up that was right before this that worked better than expected. Wade had some key defensive possessions as the de-facto center.

Defensively, I actually thought the first half, where we got out to a 15 point lead, we were tempting fate leaving some really good shooters wide open over-committing to Cam Thomas and Schroeder. Then, when the Nets actually started to come back, we actually were making their shot quality worse (at least imo), but they stayed hitting (including an off the back board in the corner three from Cam Johnson).

Great game lol

The Cavs' legs were gone and they were front-rimming a lot of shots. I wouldn't be surprised if Wade's illness also spread to others on the team. I hope that's all that was affecting Allen tonight...

These are games that most teams are supposed to lose and they still won. Special group.

Could be, but they seemed worn down in the second half of the Warriors game the night before.

I wonder if Kenny can do something about that?

I remember similar games under JBB where we'd put so much energy in to the first half building a lead, we were out of energy in the second half. The one game we won in the Knicks playoff series is an example of it.

I think we're going to have to spell Allen more than we're doing over the course of the season. I'd really like to see if Thor can eat two meaningful minutes in each half.

I felt like the Nets were allowed to get really physical with us last night. Same with the Warriors in the second half Friday.

Mitchell mentioned that. That Pelicans game was absolutely brutal too.

"We’re second in the league in drives per game and we’re not getting any foul calls,” Mitchell said... For us to be the team that we are, to drive and not get foul calls, it’s crazy.

“The refereeing has been so inconsistent, especially against us. There needs to be consistency... They need to tighten up. I’m probably going to get fined for it. But it’s outrageous.”

Another test for Kenny, let's see if he can do anything to protect his players.

Especially at home. We have no home court advantage. None.
