What can the cavs offer to get Kidd?

Just to start, I want to make it clear that I do not believe we have a chance to get Jason Kidd on the Cavs. Having stated that clearly, what you guys think we can offer to get NJ interested? I would offer this:
-----------------------------------------
Expiring contracts:
Ira Newble - 3.4 mil
Shannon Brown - 1.0 mil
Devin Brown - 1.1 mil
Dwayne Jones - .8 mil
Players
Drew Gooden - 6.4 mil
Picks
08 first draft pick
---------------------------------------------
Just to get to within 25% OF Kidd's 17.8
---------------------------------------------
But I would not trade two picks or Boobie Gibson
--------------------------------------------------------
Thoughts?

I agree that I wouldnt trade more than 2 picks or Boobie. Realistically that package isnt very attractive and the only way I see JKidd here is if he demands a trade to us and only us. I dont think that JKidd will get the kind of return that many people believe he will, but our package is bad.

I agree with both points that are made here. I don't think that the Cavs will acquire Kidd nor do I think that the Nets are going to get nearly what he is actually worth. While he's been playing at a high level for some time virtually nobody can fight time for much longer than he already has. At this point I don't think he'd be worth 2 firsts to us and I definitely don't give up Gibson.

The only way I see this happening is with a 3rd team. But I am starting to feel like this could happen!? Especially if both of these players, LBJ and Kidd want it that way.

Most of the top contenders already have solid PG's
SA, NO, Phx, Utah, Golden State, Portland all have good to great young PG's. Even the Lakers have 3 good PG's with Fisher, Crit, and Farmar. Point being if Jkidd wants to go to a contender, the only teams out West that will prob go after him strong are Houston and Dallas.
Dallas I doubt is giving up Harris, and Terry has a longer contract than the Nets are probably looking for. Houston has some pieces to deal that would prob beat ours.
In the East, the contending teams like Boston and Det are not going to trade for Kidd. Det just resigned Billups to a long term deal, and Boston is already in salary cap hell and have nothing left to deal. I think when you look at teams who are close to contending that badly need a PG, the Cavs would probably be HIS best destination.
I'd trade anyone other than LBJ, Boobie, AV, Z for Jkidd. Make it happen Ferry

I don't care who we get as long as Drew is on the flight passing in the air...

A 3 or 4 way trade is the only way to send a decent package of talent/contracts back to New Jersey. The only way the Cavs could really fleece the Nets on a JKidd trade is if we figure out a way for them to get rid of Vinsanity as well.

so who's left to trade? an overpaid hughes, a dumb gooden, overpaid and old snow and marshall, shannon brown, streaky damon jones, simmons and devin brown
a collection of scrubs or players with bad contracts (apart from devin + gooden)

LOL You're right, that is trash but NJ might take it if JKidd specifically requested to come to CLE.
I'm just not comfortable trading Boobie in this deal, which is what NJ would want. I wouldn't give them Z either, he should retire a Cav and fits well next to LBJ.
We'd have to spice it up with draft picks or as someone else said get a 3rd team involved

I doubt Z gets traded but Boobie can go for all I care. It's Jason Kidd for christs sake and even though he has no jumper at all, he's light years better then gibson at passing + rebounding

But you have to have shooters in this offense.. Boobie is one of the best..
Kidd can pass the ball, but if he's passing to guys like LeBron, Newble, and Larry on the outside, it kinda negates Jason's biggest strength...
That's why NJ was decent back in the day when guys like Rogers, Van Horn, Kittles, and Harris were stretching the floor and knocking down shots..

it's easier to find shooters then it is to find passers. while boobie is one of the best 3PT shooters, he's below average in everything else. I'm glad he's on this team but he wouldn't be the deal breaker in an kidd deal

Right, but I doubt we're going to make a ton of moves to acquire shooters as well.. It might be easier to find a shooter (which we haven't seem to have found since Boobie) But if you're getting Jason Kidd for a year or so, why not have the best possible team around him here during his stay ??
No point in getting him if you don't have a couple shooters on the floor..

But what possibly can we offer for Kidd then besides Gooden?
Varejao-Trade Restriction and we don't have depth at the 4/5 to send them both.
Z- He'll retire a cav
Marshall-Garbage
Shannon-expiring, brown never plays him
Snow-Garbage
Damon-not bad, but not a player with upside nor expiring
sasha-trade restriction
Devin- nets might want him but only if they trade carter or jefferson too
Hughes-negative trade value
simmons-no one has seen him play yet
dwayne jones-never sees the floor if everyone's healthy
i dunno, unless nets wanna gamble (1% chance of happening) that hughes can play better for them then we might get kidd without boobie, but otherwise a package of gooden, gibson, shannon, newble, and maybe snow as filler will be the starting point imo.

I think the deal that would get done would be Gooden, Gibson, Snow & Newble for Kidd.
Honestly (attempting to be unbiased as possible) I don't see the Nets trading Kidd to Cleveland. All the other teams mentioned as interested are Western teams and with the Nets having Jefferson and Carter even after the deal they are still going to be a team looking to win now, keeping Kidd in the conference doesn't follow that goal.

Feel free to state your argument. Otherwise this post is just pointless.
I don't think that adding Kidd for the short term while subtracting Gooden, Gibson and 2 firsts makes the Cavs a better team. Your argument it?

I think it depends on what Lebron wants...if he wants to try to win a title in the next 4 years in Cleveland and move on to a different city, then they trade Gibson for Kidd...if he wants to stay in Cleveland his whole career then he could have Gibson with him the whole time.

Well LeBron wants Kidd. From today:
