Will you hate LeBron if he leaves?

Well, if he left our team right now it would set us back years. Unless we win the Finals in the next three seasons, theres a good chance he's opting out :-?

LeBron has to do what is best for him. However, it is beyond my understanding how anyone would abandon their hometown team. And because of that I'd hate him and probably the NBA as well.

Only if he has good team around him in Cleveland and he still bolts for the Knicks or Brooklyn. If management is still incompetent to build a winner around him and he goes where he feels he has a chance to win, who could blame him?

I really hope he'll stay in Cleveland though,

Like a fat chick hates the gym.

If he leaves it wont be for a lack of talent. This team is going to be beyond very good in a year or so with lots of potential options due to all of our expirings. If we were losers each and every year than I might be able to understand it, but since we wont be, I give him no excuse. If he leaves I'll hate him worse than Manny, Belle, and Thome combined. But he has given ABSOLUTELY ZERO indication that he is even thinking about leaving, so I see no reason to worry.

Nope...

Why ? Because if LeBron leaves it will have been 7 great years here... He gave us 7 great years and took this franchise further than it's ever been, and provided enough highlights to last a lifetime...

If you can't build a championship caliber team around him in 7 damn years, that's on someone else and not LeBron.. He busted his ass and played hard every night, and never complained at all about his pathetic teammates, lack of quality coaching etc....

What he did against the Pistons will forever be etched in my mind...He made basketball fun and important again in this city, and if he leaves I wish him nothing but the best, and I hope he ends up winning more titles than Jordan and turns out to e the greatest... Sure, I hope it's here, but if it's not I still wish him the best..

IMO, if LeBron is going to leave ? his mind is already made up... He knows right now whether or not he's going to Brooklyn.. Cause lets face it, he's not going to the Bulls, Knicks or Lakers... The only team he is going to is the Nets when they move to Brooklyn.. And it's probably already premeditated that him and Wade might go there and play together... Nothing the Cavs can put around him to make him stay since his heart is set on playing there (if indeed that is the case)

But he's never lied to the fans here... He's never said he's going to stay or this is his first choice...He's going to do what he wants to do, and if that's the case you really can't be pissed at a guy for doing what he wants and making a choice that makes him happy...It's what I would do...

We shall see... If he stays he stays... If he leaves he leaves...

If LeBron leaves is not his fault. It's Danny Ferry's fault, he can't build a good team around around LeBron,

I don't think that I'll ever hate LeBron...regardless of what city he plays in.

That being said, I will definitely not have as much interest in the sport as I do now.

Like others have indicated: It is beyond me how any player - particularly a great player - could abandon their hometown team, especially when that player, by himself, can almost guarantee multiple championships. But if he does leave...I wont "hate" him. My opinion of his abilities, etc wont change. Although I may respect him less.

I know that a single house isn't much of a reason to play for your hometown, but that house he is building...that is costing a "lot" of money. I know he is close to his mother, his HS coaches, and his crew.... is he going to try and move them all with him?

My gut tells me he will stay. Nothing else - just my gut.

No. Period.

It is just sad that we cannot build a championship team around the most gifted athlete in recent history.

Fact of the matter....what do you expect when you bring in an average coach and average GM....

I suppose I won't hate Lebron as much as I'll never care about basketball as much for a long time. Great players come along from time to time, but when would the Cavs ever seriously have a situation as lucrative as right now? A local superstar? That's a once in a blue moon type of situation. I really think they'd seriously consider moving the franchise.

No.

I mean can you really be mad at him if he leaves...Even if it's his hometown...

My guess is that Danny Ferry gets the axe this summer...He's made horrible decisions in the past few years and it's time to show lebron that the cavs want to win. Daniel Gibson and Drew Gooden should have been enough to nab Bibby but they didn't do it. My guess is that Ferry has one more shot put them over the hump this season.... Michael Redd

One thing Lebron has always asked for is a consistent shooter and he hasn't received it yet..... This is so sad

Gooden and Gibson is way too much to give up to get Bibby. If that's what Sac was holding out for I'm even more thrilled that they didn't do it. Terrible idea and frankly it's kinda silly of you to bring it up as an argument against Ferry.

This is why I hate threads like this, too many non cavs fans want to weigh in on it and they clearly have no understanding of what they are talking about.

Are you sure you didn't hear Kenny Smith say that he's not leaving?
Sure you weren't standing next to his mom?
Maybe you, Ferry and Thorn were talking about it down at the All Star game?

Tell us you got more insight than just your gut!

Cmon Heathmalc.. we want LeBron to stay and we're looking to you and your connections to find out for us!

I mean this guy traded Carlos Boozer.
He also signed the superstar Larry Hughes.
This GM is a genius.
LeBron has had enough of this. He has to leave, or it will be too late, and a waste of a legend.

Anyone who says that the Cavs traded Boozer clearly does not no enough to speak on this situation.

Drew Gooden and Daniel Gibson are too much to give up for bibby????

Please tell me you're joking....Or were you overly thrilled at Gibsons performance during the Rookie Game???

Gooden and Gibson could have possibly landed you Bibby and just maybe another prospect (Maybe Garcia). On the other hand maybe not, and maybe it is too much for Bibby... but it could have started talks to say the least.

BTW- If you haven't noticed Realgm is an opinion based thread...so yes ...non-cavs fans will give their opinion

Better to trade boozer than to let him walk....

Face it man...Ferry needs to be replaced...

Are you his nephew or something???

wow :noway:

jim paxson screwed up the boozer fiasco and boozer left in free agency to utah. danny ferry was still in san antonio at the time

and you just proved why you shouldnt give yours. mike bibby is not worth gutting the team over

Got me....

Here's my point,

Drew Gooden + Daniel Gibson+ Cedric Simmons+Donyell Marshall/Ira Newble + picks

May have landed the cavs Bibby and Artest....If they didn't advance deep into the playoffs with that roster..the next season you could have had almost 20 million in expirings to try again. (If ron-ron didn't opt out)

Why people here want ARtest ? He's a SF, that means he would play PF with the Cavs or start from the bench .
The Cavs needs starting players , no more bench players.

your indignation is misplaced. Fact is you are continually making mistakes in your arguments which invalidates them to say the least. And no, I don't think that Bibby is worth Gooden and Gibson. In fact it is not even a given that Bibby is worth Gibson at this point much less giving up one of the teams few healthy big me.
